CW-X Insulator Stabilix Tights for winter cycling

just picked up a pair from city sports, brought home two sizes to try on over tri shorts. they look and feel great but my question is will they shrink?

care instructions say do not tumble dry, but i’d say theres a 99% chance that they end up in the dryer

they won’t shrink. put it in the dryer on the lowest setting. quick 30 min should do. Alternatively, just hang them up in your bathroom and they should be good to go in less than a day

thank you!

I’m considering the same. How are yours working on for cycling? Any issues getting them over your cycling shorts? Do they stay in place adequately? How warm are they?

Thanks.

NO shrinking issues. However I found they are a little short in length. Mine end up about 2" above my ankle, so abotu 1" short. I wear 30x32 levis 559 and 569 jeans as a comparison. I think they are cut more for “average” athletes and to get ideal length I’d need a large, but then they’d be too loose in the waist and legs.

BUT, they are very comfortable and warm otherwise. They’ve kept my legs warm down to about 10F running… so probably 40-60F cycling would be OK. Kind of between knickers and full lined cycling tights weather depending on the ride intensity.

They are fine tights, but the knees are not insualted, so I often wear knee warmers with them.
Most of the front has a windblock overlay, which is really nice, but the knees only have a stretchy breathable single layer.

Yes to all three questions. They are very warm, and i used them for 2.5 winters before switching to full length leg warmers tucked it under the shorts legs. I still use the CX-X (have had them for six years, two of which for running only) as a base layer for commuting.

I tend to plan on suffering in the cold before i’ll break down and put on the tights. Mine are short, like others have noted, and seem to slip down when over my bibs. When they slip, the crotch region seems to grab onto the saddle nose frequently, and every time you stand then sit back down. I frequently feel myself hoping to hit a light so I can justify stopping to pull them up.

I’ve worn them down into the 30’s and it wasn’t the most fun ride, so I’d recommend warmer rides than that.
They’re awesome for running though.

I wear mine over 2XU tri shorts, the coldest ride I’ve been on with them was about 45 deg F, and they performed well. I don’t know if I would want to wear these in 30 deg weather, but that’s what the trainer is for. I was just looking for something to help me get a few more rides in outside this season and so far they have been great.
