I saw in a 2014 summer article on TriRig.com that Felt had made a custom build deeper storage box for Rinnys Felt IA. Anyone one knows wether or not that will actually be available to the general public?
Also people riding IA’s, how big is the standard box? I mean how much can you put in it?

My friend has an IA FRD and Ive fiddled around with it quite a bit. The built in storage box will easily hold 4-5 gels. The bottom of the standard box is recessed down into the frame just a little bit…maybe 2-3 cms deep but does not completely run the length of the box. Its not huge storage but a little bigger than the photos might suggest since it is recessed. I dont know about Rinnys custom build…but I did recently see a custom IA FRD build which accomodated the Specialized Fuelselage bladder. It was a thread here on ST somewhere.

The boxes are installed during production and can’t be changed. There’s a one-size-fits-all box installed in the frame from the factory that isn’t designed to be removed/changed. Of course as the above poster mention, that hasn’t stopped DIY mods.

Would it be possible to get the software file of the custom 3D printed CalPack that was made for Rinny’s IA. I’m sure a lot of us have access to 3D printers these days. We have one here at the local copy shop and with the file they could reproduce this CalPack.

Or, is there anything in the works, or already currently available, as far as a hard cover for the storage unit that is just a smidge bigger that stays latched?
Does anyone have the cad file for the custom nutrition box? I read that felt were happy to share it, so that we could use a digital printer to make one?

I have discussed this with Felt in length (after this time frame of January 2015) and I’m almost certain you won’t be able to get the file. It’s opening them up for litigation against some other manufacturers who’ve made internal storage a patent. I know we all want to have some kind of mod for this but honestly they have to err on the side of caution. I think the last thing any of us want is to cause undue legal troubles for the people of Felt.
I’d like to be wrong but I doubt we’ll see this materialize but I’m happy to be wrong here!
Hey SD! I am trying to get a copy of that 3de file as well! I also have a couple of ideas that I have done for my IA FRD that may be a good sell. At any rate, If I could get the file to the Larger storage, that would be incredible!
