Custom Painted SHIV....got a quote.....eeek!

Got a quote from Class Act Paint & Powder who is the only place that Specialized will allow to custom paint a frame and maintain the warranty. I was asking for a solid color frame, with some pin-striping arcs. They quoted me $1800 and a turn around of 2-3 months!

Yeah I know Darin and other places would do it for much cheaper and the work is probably even better, but this is supposedly the only place that will maintain the warranty. Don’t worry, haven’t bought anything yet. Just trying to decide between a SHIV and SC.

Unless not painting the frame is spelled out in the warranty,is it legal for Specialized to void the warranty if you have the frame painted? If Specialized allows someone to paint the frame, is it legal for them to exclude everyone else? Seems like there are two legal issues that aren’t clear. If you want the Specialized bike, you might be able to resolve the customization confusion.

Normally I’d say you have to pay to play but you could repaint a car for that. Tell them to take 1000 off and thatd be about right.
