Custom Footbeds

Does anyone know of a good shop or dr. in the NYC/CT. area that can make custom footbeds for my running shoes? None of the usual suspects have a line on this.

Thanks.

Chris,
Check out http://www.yoursole.com/

The are heat moldable trim to fit insoles…better than normal insoles, but not pricy like custom orthotics. It’s about as close as you get to true custom insoles. They work really well.

your soles are nice and working at a shoe store they are super easy to sell, but…

depending on your needs they may not be the best. Their medial (main inside arch) arch is really really exaggerated and placed a little to far foward for most people. Granted when you heat form these babies the arch goes down a bit but it doesn’t move back at all. The lateral arch is nonexistant and this can be a very important arch for some people. Last, if you’re a big guy you’ll go through these pretty quickly.

If you’re not going custom your best bet is to go to a big running store and try a bunch on. I personally like Superfeet but used Yoursoles quite a bit until I got plantar fasciatis and switched to custom and Superfeet.

Will do. Thanks.

You hit on the problem I am having. Right now, I have a Superfeet in my left shoe and a Powerstep in my right shoe. The problem I experience is that the arch is too far back to fit comfortably. I have yet to find trim to fits that feel any good at all. I have spoken to a number of places (Super Runners, Threads and Treads, etc.) and no one does custom footbeds for running. The only consistent answer I get is to to go a doctor, but I imagine that will be $$$. YourSoles may be the next thing to try and they are relatively cheap. It sounds like you liked them. I am not a big guy at 170 lbs.

if the arch in teh superfeet is to far back definetely try the Your Sole, maybe some Sof Sol too. Don’t try Spenco as I’m guessing the arch will be to far back again.
