Looking for a suggestion on a direction to go to get a good 2 hour ride in?

Wouldn’t mind company if someone local wants to join. Here through 1/1?

Talk to the guys at Perry Rubber Bike Shop; David Udinsky is the owner.
He should be able to tell where and when people are rolling.
Their number is 912 236 9929.

Just head in-land. Lots of quiet back-country roads - big trees, spanish moss, few cars, big old plantation style houses etc . .

I was passing though Savannah a number of years ago and did a one-and-done ride there. I over-nighted at a Hampton Inn hotel just off the I-95, just south of Savannah proper.

Got up just after sun-rise and headed out. I’ve done many of these one-and-done rides over the years all over the place in my travels, and this one was one of the more memorable ones.

if you do this ^^^ solo, do it early and preferably on the weekend. Those low country open roads are notorious for motorists who buzz the bike cuz they know that no one is around to see anything. Cycling has really taken off over the last 10 years down there but it’s still a freak show as far as most motorists are concerned.

There are a few group rides around, as mentioned from earlier. When I visit Savannah to see the in-laws, I will often ride Tuesday evenings out at the Ga Tech satellite campus ride in Pooler and Saturday mornings go with The Gallery Espresso ride that heads out from Bull St around 8am (please follow up on that since I only hit them up about once per year). They’re good people and very welcoming to out of towners, in my experience.

This is the Savannah Century. You might find some roads off the GPS routes.
