CTL in Training Peaks

Anyone encounter your web based Training Peaks giving you a different CTL than your mobile app. I’ve looked and its the same number of workouts in both. Very odd…

I’ve just checked and it’s identical for me. Sorry, no idea.

Yes. I believe what happens is the ATL and CTL numbers on the mobile app are your “real time” data points, ie. up through that day while the web version on a laptop displays what it will be at the end of the period, ie. end of the week. They should sync up at the end of the week. For example, my ATL and CTL numbers on the app are 98 and 114, while the same numbers on the web version are 96 and 97, only because I don’t have any workouts “planned” for tomorrow.

Hope that makes sense.

Not sure that’s the case. It’s sunday midday here and I’ve done one workout this AM and have another planned for this afternoon. I’ve got the same on both app and website.

But, do you mean you are looking at the figures on right hand side of the calendar, or are you looking at the ones on the homepage above the ramp charts?

Let’s see what the OP says in response to your question. I was assuming they were looking at the calendar page on the web version.

On the home page, you’re correct, they are the same.

Yep, those show the values on a Sunday night if you do the TSS in your remaining planned sessions. Ie they reflect the dotted curve on the homepage that projects forward to any events.

Note that the scores only project when a TSS value is included, and do not include any allowance for runs, swims or rides where the planned session is ‘free’ and doesn’t include a value in the planned TSS box.

So again for me, my session this PM is a recovery ride, and so whilst I will end up with some TSS at the end, and that will increase my CTL and Fatigue, at the moment both are the same as there’s no TSS shown in the planned session.

I’m referring to the “summary” on the righthand side of the Calendar view on the webpage vs. the weekly snapshot on the mobile app. I have a workout left to complete for the week, but today the numbers are the same. They haven’t been for most of the week. I suspect the issue may be that the website and mobile apps are synching at differernt times. Lately, the mobile app has been very, very slow in updating.

Those are two different numbers representing different things.

The numbers on the mobile app under your name and on the calendar view labelled ‘today’ will match the ones on the ‘home’ screen of the web browser portal. The web browser has an additional data metric that I don’t think is on the mobile app in that it shows your values on a weekly basis back through time and also forecast ahead to the right of the calendar view.

As you’ve noticed the values on the current week of the calendar will of course be close to the ‘today’ although sometimes not exactly the same.

Just to point out, CTL and TSS is cool, but it is far from perfect. Differences of a couple points in CTL should be very low on the training priority list. Insert classic example 10x6min@FTP and 1x60min @FTP being equal TSS.
