CT users, please help!

Guys, can I get some help setting up my CT please. I am currently using it as a stand alone because my laptop (Samsung V25) has only 2 USB ports and a 25 pin serial port for a printer. The problem occurs as CTs 3D program provides a 9 pin to stereo adaptor, and states in the paperwork not to use a printer port. Can anyone tell me how to get around this as I need to get some serious CT time in and wish to use spin scan etc. to get ready for IM Brazil in less than 6 months timehttp://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_1_5.gif

There is a USB-to-Serial adapter on http://www.computrainer.com/html/pricing.html.

You might also try looking through the CT group on http://groups.yahoo.com.

… I use a usb to serial port converter connection… if you read the sight it also notes that not ALL usb to serial port converter connections work (although most do). I ordered mine from CT and had not problem. The one sent was a Belkin - USB Parallel Printer Adapter (pretty generic adapter and driver).

Also, I might note that if you use a Palm top to download with your laptop, you could have problems getting the CT to recognize the port. For some reason Palm tops take over the available ports.

I had the same problem - you just need to deactivate the “hot sync” feature on your pc/laptop before you connect CT with the computer.

Am I missing something here Rob? If I put the USB end into the USB port how do I connect the serial end (female) to the stereo cable to go in the handlebar mounted display unit? The stereo to serial adaptor supplied with the CT is female also!

I don’t have a clue. I would have thought CT-supplied adapters wouldn’t pose this problem. Perhaps the easiest solution is to visit a local computer/electronics store and get yet another adapter to fit between the two pieces you already have (something like http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog_name=CTLG&product_id=26-231 or http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog_name=CTLG&product_id=26-230).

You think it would be easier, eh?

at this point i got confused and went back to polishing my carbon…
