I’m doing the CT Challenge. I rode a course this morning but didn’t have time to write down my averages. I saved the course but can’t figure out how to read the file. Any easy free ways of doing this that won’t require me to read a manual? I played around with the coaching software but it doesn’t look like that will read 3dp files.
load it up in 3d demo mode and ‘ride’ against it. at the end of the ‘ride’ it’ll give you the metal man’s stats. Ensure it’s Setup for “Ride against past performance when available” under the options.
In the load menu, select past performance file rather than course. Then just run the .3dp in course demo mode.
Haven’t got the software here so I can’t tell you step by step. Then again if it’s too much trouble to read the manual …
The Coaching software is your best free bet. You need to change the source to “Saved File” instead of “Real Time”. Then Start/Charts and ensure the you change the File Open Dialog box to open .3dp files and change to the Comp3d Race performance directory to find your file. Once the file is open you will have what you need. You will need to scroll left and right to see the averages at various stages of the ride.
Wow there is an easier way. Just go to the main computrainer, folder c:/program files/computrainer 3D v3 & then look for the racelog.cvs. It opens with excel. It has every race from the 1st day on. Change the column widths as needed to see the info. Just don’t save it to avoid over writing the format the the ct uses. I used that all the time with the challenge.
Another option to to try out & then purchase if you like it after the 14 day demo performancepro. I tried it & found it was well worth the ~$40 for File organization & easy data analysis.
Another option is download the 2-week trial of TrainingPeaks WKO+. Import the 3DP file, you can view, and also export it with all of your data as a text file.
