I can’t stand the compression on chest/stomach from a trisuit or tri top. I only wear 2 pieces now which I find are better than a one piece, but I still have to push my top way high (nipple level) so I can breathe easier. I’ve been looking for a crop top, like the ladies wear, but for men, alas there doesn’t seem to be any around, I’m guessing because, unlike me, people care about what they wear and what others think! I did notice this pic and it kinds looks like a crop top? Or maybe he’s like about 6’9. Any mens crop tops knocking about?
I had the same issue, and have found that an UnderArmour heatgear sleeveless top is thin enough that it doesn’t feel restrictive or like it’s stuck to my abs when wet. It’s also easy to push up to just below the pecs, and could easily be shortened (as could any tri top w/o a full length zipper) by a local tailor.
De Soto will also custom tailor one or their tops (for a custom price) if you ask them.

You want the manzeere. I went through the same search. In the end, I ended up bringing a desoto tri top to a seamstress and had her cut about 4" of the stomach off. It worked like a charm.
Any race under ITU Rules won’t permit ‘crop vests’ any more though, the garments have to overlap. Bureaucracy and all that! So I guess that precludes the Faris look.
