I’m a huge advocate of getting on your tri bike sometime during your general prep period and all through race-specific prep. I’m of the opinion that if you don’t like training on your tri bike then there’s a fundamental problem that needs to be addressed. As fundamental as maybe you’re even in the wrong sport…

Btw, your post is quite timely as I’ve been wanting to raise this issue with the group of guys I work with who constantly through around ideas on training and racing with power. I was actually serious when I said I’d like to call it TFTP. What AC has done with the development of the NP construct has definitely set the foundation for how we apply it to triathlon. I just think there’s an additional specificity requirement/emphasis for long course tri.
