I saw pip taylor’s awesome custom tri suit this weekend and inspiration struck and I would like to design something similar for next season. I originally thought a super hero type suit would look great but realized that might come to a copyright dispute. Anyone done anything cool with their trisuit? I’ve seen the muscle type suit and others similar but am surprised at how limited trisuits must be cause I don’t know what to design…Any ideas?
I’m thinking Tron. The same folk who do the “muscle suit” have something similar, I think, but a full kit (helmet, bike, etc.) would be sweet.

Epixgear can help you out here. Talk to Tomek, cool guy & I think he does the artwork. I’ve used a 1-pc prototype suit of theirs this year a few times & it was quite comfortable. I’ve offered a few suggestions to make it “perfect” and they took all the information & hopefully they’ll incorporate it into their 2 pc. But they are very willing to work with customers on custom art too.

Yeah, but then you would have to paint your bike like a Light Cycle. Hmmm, Light Cycle P4…

On a more serious note, I would ask, what else besides Tri are you into? Tron would be cool, but if you’re not a fan there’s not much point. Star Wars nut? Stormtrooper. World War 2 buff? Flying Tigers paint scheme, complete with shark mouth on the helmet. Architecture? Moorish art? Auto racing (see: Martini Shiv)? Could be almost anything, but choose something that has meaning to you and it will be a lot more fun and original. Pick something you dig and pull out the most recognizable/simple feature and use that as a starting point.

The problem at this point with the majority of the manufacturers that do 1 off custom designs is that the clothing is crap. It seems that many of the fabrics that accept dye sub well are not as high tech and quality oriented of many that don’t. It’s one thing to have a creative crazy design, but another very important thing to actually want to race in it and be comfortable.

Why is the customization only available for tri-suits? I’m not a tri-suit guy, but I’m interested in designing my own gear…
