here is a template you can use
The columns are determined right under the file name, for this one it is minutes and watts ( they can be anything, miles, wind Etc. When saving it, save it a .erg file in note pad and you are good to go VERSION = 2 UNITS = ENGLISH DESCRIPTION = FILE NAME = MINUTES WATTS 0.0 50 1.0 50 1.0 75 2.0 75 2.0 100 3.0 100 4.0 125 5.0 125 6.0 150 7.0 150 8.0 175 9.0 175 10.0 200 11.0 200 12.0 225 13.0 225 14.0 250 15.0 250 16.0 275 17.0 275 18.0 300 19.0 300 20.0 325 21.0 325 22.0 350 23.0 350 24.0 375 25.0 0

Here’s the section on “Quick Start” from the user guide:
Suppose you want to have a workout described as follows:
Warm-up for twenty minutes using a favorite warm-up file, followed by a 3 minute rest. Then do three sets of 6 reps each. Each rep is 1 minute long at 300W followed by two minutes resting (at 100 W). Rest for an extra 10 minutes between sets.
Begin by selecting File…New. A single “hat interval” is shown. Select the hat by clicking near the shape with the mouse. It will turn from blue to red. Adjust the hat (either graphically with mouse click and drag, or using the parameter window control boxes) so that the hat shows 300W for 1 minute, and 100W for 2 minutes.
Now hit the “Replicate Selection” button 17 times, to show a total of 18 intervals.
Extend the rest time between the sets by selecting the sixth hat. You can extend the rest period by adjusting the t2 control box in the Parameter window. Alternatively, you can insert a “Line” object by selecting the sixth hat, click the “Line” selection button, and then “Insert New”. You must adjust the power level and duration of the inserted line. Repeat either of these procedures at the twelfth “hat” interval.
Add the warm-up by clicking “Select None”, and then “File…Insert from .Erp file”, and select your favorite previously‑stored 20-minute warm‑up, or one from the included samples. You can edit these files to suit your preferences. You can also insert new shapes individually as you did with the “hat intervals” to represent your warm-up protocol.
Now, save the .erp file under a new filename, with “File…Save”, modify the suggested filename if necessary, and then “Save”.
Then compile the .erp file into .erg format with “File…Compile to CS format”…confirm the filename suggested, and “Save”.
A new Computrainer CS compatible .Erg file is created, and you are ready to ride. Start your Computrainer Coach Software application, and set options to “Ergo test” and Start…Charts, and select the file you just created with CyclingPeaks ERG+ Graphical Workout Editor & Converter.

I just wanted to say thanks, I started using a Computrainer in the last year and came across this link and its the best !!
I have a quick question about it…is there any want to extend the number of rows or columns?
Sometimes the workouts I’m doing involve multiple shorter intervals (ie 1.5mins @ X watts, then, .5mins @ x etc) so I’m doing a number of increases before I hit a recovery, but when there are multiple sets involved I run out of room in building it, unless I’m missing something and there is a way to build in sets like that using the existing format?

all you have to do to add rows is to add ?rows=XX after the URL. Ex, to have 30 rows, it would be
