Craving Salt? I am training for my first Iron distance I have never craved salt or used table salt. Currently training 15-18 hours per week and crave salt at all meals is this normal. I never remember craving or even really liking salt before?
I don’t use table salt either and rarely crave it. but when I do I listen and add a little sodium into my diet for a day or so. I’ve read if you hydrate with water only your body may crave salt in order to increase the sodium content of your blood which becomes diluted by H20 only…especially if you’re not getting enough through your diet.
I get that too, I think you might be on the verge of dehydration. Try increasing your water/electrolyte intake.
Everyone is different. I crave salt constantly.
You need to salt during the race as well, most likely. Thermolytes are the way to go. I take 6-7 an hour when it’s hot along with all the water I care to drink on top of the Carbopro 1200.
