I am in the process of trying to remove my SRM cranks to send back for calibration. I am using an Octalink Version and have the correct crank puller. However, I cannot figure out how to remove the 2 prong retaining cap. Am I mssing somehting??
That looks like a self-extracting crank bolt. Take a 10mm hex wrench and stick it in the hole. With the crank at 2 o’clock and wrench at 10 o’clock undo the bolt which will press against the cap and remove the crank from the axle without the need for an extractor tool.
Yup - looks like a self extracting type - just turn hard! To remove that outer cap (should you want/need to), you need a tool called a “spanner tool”. You can see this on Park tools website.
