Crank Brothers Pedals are they supposed to be wobbly?

I just got a mountain bike. I’ve ridden a road bike for years with speedplay pedals.

I clipped into my crank brothers candy pedals today for the first time and was very surprised at how wobbly they felt. I know they are supposed to have float but my whole foot rocks side to side as well. There is just a lot of movement compared to my speedplay pedals.

Is this normal?

I think mine were like that at first. Check the cleat mounting instructions and see if you have them arranged as easy out.

I do have them arranged as easy out. Does this make a difference with the pronation/supination type motion I’m getting?

MTB pedals typically do not have the same solid contact that road bike pedals have.

I have Crank Bros Quattro pedals and have them set on the easy out setting. Yes, there is some play in the pedal for sure. My feet aren’t locked into one position at all. I like that…prevents fatigue on long rides.

I think mine were less wobbly when I changed them from easy out
.

I just installed egg beaters & I had that problem. It turned out the cleat wasn’t tight enough. They do have a generous amount of float.

Thanks for the advice. Has anyone tried speedplay frog pedals too? Are they less wobbly?
