Cramerotti (sp?) frames

Anyone have any experience with these? Rode with a dude last weekend who had a steel one. Looked like a nice ride. Tubes were pretty thin for steel.

Very classy looking.

http://fixedgeargallery.com/wills.jpgI don’t know much about them. Built in Italy, steel (and aluminum for their tt bike???) I get them a little mixed up with cyfac.

They are very well made, wonderfully classy, smooth riding, fairly traditional Italian “boutique shop” bikes. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of their frames. Make sure to have it built up with Campagnolo components if you buy one. Not that there is anything wrong with Shimano, but you gotta go all Italian when you buy a Cramerotti.

Both of you guys are completely wrong … they’re made in Canada (Vancouver) by Guiseppe Cramerotti who also owns La Bicicletta, an Italian-style pro shop chain in Canada.

And about that Campy business… Ernesto Colnago would just laugh at you if he read that :stuck_out_tongue:

My bad, I meant designed by Italians.

Thanks for the info. Checked out their website and unless I missed it, it doesn’t appear they have US distributors. Makes for ordering one a bit sketchy.

Also wrong he owns Campione but he is Italian and tells me the bikes are made in Italy, no way to verify that part. I know a few people that ride them, including ST legend - Khai. Ask him

Wow, seems like no one can get anything right about this bike

Khai, experiences??

"By the age of fourteen Tullio’s son, Giuseppe, knew his life’s calling. He too had developed an unrivaled passion for the sport. When he could no longer race, Guiseppe turned his enthusiasm and perfectionism to the art of building frames.

Guiseppe moved to Canada, where he changed the face of high end road cycling. There he made CRAMEROTTI the best selling custom Italian-crafted frames in the country by word of mouth alone. Still not satisfied, Giuseppe is continues to work to make CRAMEROTTI the most respected Italian custom frame throughout all of North America. "

My understanding is that they’re build in Canada, but since the frame builder himself is Italian they use the words “Italian-crafted” to make it look like they’re “made in Italy”, which they aren’t.

I cant vouch for where they are made all I know is the store is about 5mins from my apartment and I have been in there a couple of times to chat to Guiseppe who will swear they are made in Italy.

As I said I cant vouch for the truth of that statement. Some of the guys I ride with were sponspored by the store and rode the bikes a few years ago.

Nice store though, but dont go there too often a bit out of my price range. Carries LSpeed, Colnalgo, Jokers, Merlin, QR among others.

I just emailed my buddy who has one and gave me all the information that I passed on in my posts above. He just emailed me back: “I was mistaken. They are headquartered in Canada but build the frames in a factory in Italy…” He also said: “they’re no longer associated with La Biciciletta…”

So, (assuming what he said is correct!) they are “Italian”. Sorry for passing along bad info.

How about getting your s$%t straight the first time Devil’s Advocate!!! If you are going to play Devil’s Advocate effectively on this forum, then make sure your info is 100%!!

By definition I champion the less accepted cause for the sake of argument… 100% accuracy is not required

But you’re right… I’m burning all my unreliable sources in Hell right now!

Ha!.. So I was right at least once this week.

Goph… you’re always spot-on… don’t sell yourself short!

Nope. Sorry dude. First off, Guiseppe Cramerotti owns Campione Cycles, a Vancouver-based high end roadie shop (and my roadie LBS), but has no relation to La Bicicletta (another Vancouver-based high-end roadie shop). (Many of the) frames are designed by a 5 time Dutch national champ, and they are mostly built by hand, in Italy, in Guiseppe’s factory (some of the lower end frames in the past were built in Holland).

I own a Cramerotti and love it. It’s reasonably light (I didn’t get a high end frame), stiff as hell, and is sufficiently comfortable. I’ll trade stiffness over comfort or aero any day of the week, but I really can’t complain about the ride. The geometry is classic roadie angles, and it handles very well. Climbing, descending, deep in the corners… I love the bike.

If a classic road bike is what’s desired, I don’t think you can go wrong with a Cramerotti.

Not sure what your’e “nope(ing)” or “sorry dude(ing)” to.

But I started the post, then went to lunch and came back and finished it - in the meantime, you had recanted your misinformation.

Wow… you’re serious about your posts… had that thing open for several hours before you “finished” it, huh :stuck_out_tongue:

So serious in fact that I needed to mull this one over lunch!
