Cracked feet

My right foot has a big o’ painful deep crack in it. What could have caused it and how do I fix it?

Yeah I bumped. Wanna do somethin’ 'bout it?

Dry skin. Vaseline helps soften feet, assuming you can spare some from its other ahem, personal, obvious uses.

You fight crack with Zims Crack Creme
.

Aquaphor

or add it to your list of things to talk to your doctor about
.

super glue… honestly.

Ive had cracks in my fingers and have used it there. 5-7 days later it flakes off like a scab. Or if you dont like that idea i’ve had good luck with Curel Foot Cream

“manly way” vs “the probably safer way” at least the manly way lets you get back on your feet

Yup

“superglue” or cyanoacrylate is used often and even marketed by J&J for use in the ER for minor cuts (children) as Dermabond. Works great. As for lotions/cream/ointments - knock yourself out. There are tons, but in general, look for a cream vs. a lotion for the super heavy/thick skin around the heel/plantar foot. I like creams with urea (up to 17% OTC, 50% with Rx) to help break down that dry/fissure heel stuff.

x3 on using super glue. I’ve used it plenty of times when I get “cracks” in my skin on my fingers in winter and on paper cuts.

I coat them with vaseoline and then put on socks before beddy bye. Softens them up a bit.

I was in the marine corps and went to both iraq and afgan. had the problem both places, spent minimal time out of my boots. I eventually saw the doc and he explained it was common. It is from your feet being to moist from sweat and constantly being in a shoe, then when your not in shoes they get over dry. the one thing i found really helped was vasiline before i went to bed and put a sock on. morning time it was great. hope this helps

other thing that helps me:
-not wearing sandals, mine are made a lot worse by really flexible footwear that lets my ball of foot flex a lot- like flipflops. tevas insetad of flipflops made a huge diff for me
-getting a “callous sander” file thingy, and filing off my foot callouses, so feet are more flexy less “armored”
-and yes using lot of lotion
-also was made worse by athletes foot- if you fix the athletes foot (if you have it) it may make it a lot better
