Cozumel Bike Rental

Going to be in Cozumel for a few days end of the month and would really like to get two good rides in, besides some running and swimming. Does anyone have any recommendations on good tri bike shops?
Should I bring my own pedals, helmet, shoes? (garmin vector so I would have power if I did bring them along)
I will have lots of free time during the day as I am tagging along on wife’s business trip. Bike looks to be very straight forward, looks like only one road out that loops around back to town, and roads seem to get a good review surface wise…
I would imagine QR is the bike of choice?
Thanks Boom

I dont know much about the rental, but its a Great place to Ride. Check out the “bike path” section which eventually turns into a road for just hotel transports and cyclists. very good surface and very light traffic. A loop of the island is 63km. Watch for those head winds

I haven’t been to Cozumel since 2001 so I’m obviously out of touch, but that island seems to me to be the farthest thing possible from being a cycling destination. I can’t imagine that there is a single $1,000 or higher bike for sale on that island, let alone a rental. Cozumel is about scuba diving and cruise ships.

Though the bike with the basket looks tempting…

Personally, I’d skip cycling and go diving or something.

sorry I can’t help with the rental part of your question but as for the riding it is a straight forward loop of 40 miles around the island. you can head south out of town until just past the freight pier then take the ocean frontage road. It should say hotel intercontinental on the sign. it is still a road for scooters and local traffic but that is basically the bike path for about 15 miles until it meets back up with the highway. then it becomes bike only around to punta sur and up the east side. have fun with that headwind - we did it 3 times in he ironman. then it’s about 8 miles heading west back to town. also there’s a great little restaurant half way up the east side in the bay. I can’t remember the name but great food/drink and the cheapest souvenirs we found were over there.

You might want to PM kathy_caribe as she has lived there for about 7 yrs IIRC. She can tell you all about Cozumel:)

Thanks sounds like a nice loop. Looks like there are two shops that have QR bikes for rent, hopefully they keep them in stock year round and not just during race events. Looking forward to getting off the trainer and riding outside. If no riding at least swim and run, and of course margarita’s!
