Count on California to buck a trend. Chainpin will love this one

Just when the States are trying to resolve the illegal immigration issue, here comes California to offer its solution: Open borders.

SACRAMENTO, Calif.-Nearly 1 million undocumented immigrants could live and work openly in California with little or no fear of deportation under an initiative unveiled Friday by a state legislator and others. Assemblyman Felipe Fuentes, a Democrat, is helping spearhead the measure, called the California Opportunity and Prosperity Act.

The proposed initiative would apply to illegal immigrants who have lived in California for four years, have no felony convictions, are not suspected terrorists, pay a fee to administer the program, and can speak English or are learning it.

Do you suppose Attorney General Holder will sue California to block implementation if it passes?

That’s cool … all 12 of them can now stay.

One of the problems:

Supporters say the initiative could generate up to $325 million in new tax revenue from undocumented workers that could assist education, public safety and other state programs

.
$325 million is a drop in the bucket when it comes to educating the children of illegal immigrants. And that’s just education. Illegals take more than their share from social programs and tend to use the “self pay” emergency room as their Dr’s office, driving up the costs of health care.

That needs a bill? That is status quo.

I don’t know the particulars of this bill, and chances are it’s a disaster (because the people who run this state are fucking morons), but I’ve got no problem letting people who want to work live here, legally. Bring 'em on.

It’s the mooches that leech off the system that need to go.

You said it. Thats some serious twisted logiv they have there. What dipshits

if i told my wife we were moving to cali she could/would pack our house in one night. i love it there but damn it’s crap like this that drives me nuts. i just can not justify sending my money to jerry brown to spend.

i am no atty, but is this even possible/legal? to allow someone breaking a federal law to come in and be employed within the boundry of the united states?

Please move here. All the good people are leaving.

how do you know i’m good?

There are millions of people all the around the world who would love to live here and be productive citizen’s and they go through major legal hoops to do so. How is it fair to them, to let the people who broke our laws to live here, get a pass?

Doesn’t it send a horrible message to the world? Screw going through the legal process, just sneak in and advocate for amnesty!

Won’t it be much better for us to pick and choose who we want to live here, maybe people who would be considered a valuable asset like more doctors or engineers … Then to have more uneducated, impoverished groups who have figured out how to break into our country and take advantage of our system?

I hear ya, buddy. I agree with you completely. This is a complicated issue. The advocates for amnesty are fucking insane. There are Brown Supremacists who believe CA, TX, and AZ are all part of Mexico. I know some of these people personally.

In a perfect world we could simply enforce existing law. This was tried in AZ and the Fed sued them.
What I’d like to see (will never happen) is that you take those that are here illegally and legalize them by sending them back to their home country.
What to do with the children born here to illegal parents you ask? Send parents home with kids or put kids in foster care until they can be adopted by legal residents (before you ask the answer is yes, I’d be happy to adopt 1 or 2 myself. My son is adopted from Russia).

Then we allow many, many more to come to this country, legally, than we currently do. Many more. All kinds. Doctors, engineers, fruit pickers, bus boys and nannies. Legal. In the system.

I see *a lot *of young, able bodied, Americans (kids in their 20s) roaming around with backpacks, hanging out on the streets all day asking for change. Why can’t we get rid of those fuckers too? You think they will bust their ass all day picking strawberries? You think any of those white, dreadlock sporting, arm pit stinking Phish fans will ever contribute anything? I have a lot more respect and compassion for my landscaper, Ramone (who’s immigration status is unknown to me) than I have for the punk motherfucker who cussed me out because I wouldn’t give him a dollar.

In the end these are people we are talking about. Some are bad people. Most are not.

As far as Jerry Brown goes, he’s one of the few Politicians that actually does what he thinks is right regardless of what others think. The problem is that he is usually just sooooo wrong.

Getting clearance to collect signatures in an attempt to get something on the ballot is not “bucking a trend” in any sense.

X2, good hard-working people are hard to find, if we have 'em, let’s keep 'em.

The problem is the whole world knows our immigration system is broken, has been for a long time, and probably will be for some time. Look no further than relatives of the POTUS; aunt Zeituni and uncle Onyango Obama, for two that flouted the legal system of entry, then ignored legal orders to leave the US. It's a big dangerous and expensive joke.

Interesting point. I guess that’s the problem with cheap labor. There’s a need and desire for cheap labor. The draw back is when you pay people so little, you get very little in taxes from them.

The only way around that is to tell minimum (or sub-minimum) wage workers not to get sick and don’t have kids. And it wouldn’t matter if they were mexican, black, or white.

Nobody get minimum wage in CA.

Are you suggesting that illegals get more than minimum? Honest question as I have no idea.

are you asking in a legal way or both (legal and illegal?) i was curious just what is the min wage where i live now, az.

here in az the minimum wage is $7.35, i really have no idea what the federal min wage is (didn’t care to google that) i just know that az and cali are green on the min wage map which means our, and cali’s, min’s are above fed minimum wage. guys that i know who have hired illegals never pay less than $10/hr. so i’m gonna guess the illegals in cali are getting paid accordingly also. this is just a guess. isn’t everything more expensive there? even illegal immigrant labor.

“Can you speak english?”

“Yes!”

“Great, have you been here for 4 years?”

“Yes!”

“Congrats, you are now a citizen of California, whatever the fuck that means!”
