Any ST users or testers of the Coros helmet have any thoughts or reviews? Thanks!
Don’t have it, but if you haven’t seen it yet there is a DCR review.
I like the idea of bone conduction for riding but find the helmet itself kind of cheesy looking. You can of course get wireless bone conduction headphones like Aftershokz that you can wear under any helmet, but given they run ~$100+ just for the headphones, getting them + a helmet is a decent enough deal depending on the quality of the helmet itself.
I have it, but haven’t had the chance to ride it yet - too cold and icy to go outside. From the outside, the helmet is solid - feels very similar to a Specialized or a Giro roadie. Though i am guessing that its a tad more aero than a typical road helmet just because of how the vents are placed and the shape.
The app is super easy to use and the remote is handy to control.
In the next week or two i will have a ride and update
Cheesy — to me it just looks like a slightly modified evade.
I have it and have about 10 hours of use. I really like it. Definitely loud enough. Had a phone conversation with it flawlessly. What’s not to like?
It looks like a knock-off evade, which contributes to it’s cheesiness. I don’t find the evade to be a particularly good looking helmet, but at least you can get it in some more subtle matte options.
Really though, all that needs to be said about the Linx is that their product page video loop is a dude riding in a nike compression shirt on a roadie with clip-ons. It’s peak fred.
I still think it’s a good value though if you wanted to get a wireless bone conduction setup anyway.
I have one. So far I like it, however I’m still fiddling with the straps to find optimum placement. The speakers tend to slide forward on my face, away from my ears, which lowers the volume quite a bit. But I haven’t figured out how to tweak the straps appropriately just yet.
But I love having music going without earbuds. And just this weekend I strapped the remote to my bike, since I was riding with a buddy. The ability to raise/lower the volume was great. And that same buddy called me just as I was jumping on my bike - I took the call on my helmet and he had no idea I wasn’t on my phone.
I find it just a touch heavy, but part of that is that I ride with a light&motion helmet light which obviously adds weight. Without that on, it’s not noticeably more heavy out on the road. And I find it quite comfortable, maybe not as much as my Atmos, but comfortable enough.
I’m pretty happy with mine as well. Definitely a little on the heavy side but no big deal. Have tried one call and it worked really well, no wind noise. Speakers are fine for music but not great for podcasts. However I think a lot of that is many podcasts have bad and overly quiet audio.
I never ever rode with earbuds so having music when I ride outdoors is entirely new and it’s great. I find myself hitting higher watts at a lower perceived exertion. I can still hear traffic well so feel safe using it though I do still turn it off when I get to iffy intersections or narrow curvy stretches.
