I am wondering if anyone has used one if those Mission cooling gaiters? I have been using my winter gaiter as a mask when I go outside but now with warmer weather coming it is starting to get a bit hot to wear those and I am wondering if those are cooler?.
I love them, have several of them. Note I only use the Mission brand versions, I received a “generic” promo one at a conference that was not nearly as good at keeping cool.
I just got mine today. Our area requires masks while in public, so thought this would be easy to pull up when people are around and down when not needed.
Also plan to use it while mowing in the hot, humid summer weather.
I will check them out. I will settle for “non cooling” but less heating, if even possible.
I use Simms gaiter , mostly for work . Great for the sun and cooling ( has holes in front by nose and mouth , keeps the galsses from fogging and a little more air to breath )
I use one for work (landscaping). Not sure it would do well as a mask to keep germs away but maybe…
I bought one to test out, for me it didn’t do anything more magical than my regular Buff-brand buffs. I ended up going back to a buff because I prefer the buff fabric. It’s more of a matte finish, while the Mission buff is a little more shiny/slinkier if that makes sense.
That said, I wasn’t using them as masks in the summer, so I don’t know how they’d be in that scenario.
What seems most intuitive to me is that it is more about stopping the person wearing something spreading what they might have rather than protecting them. So if enough people wear something then there is far less coughing and sneezing on stuff. Intuitive isn’t a particularly good guide though.
But if having something covering your face is mandated somewhere then the details might not matter so much as just doing what is asked and being able to do what you need to do.
