I just finished making myself a sandwich. Nothing fancy, couple pieces of sourdough rye bread with butter, some leftover pork tenderloin and some havarti. I make pretty lame sandwiches and usually just slap some kind of meat between 2 slices of bread. I often don’t use butter or any kind of condiments. Making a good sandwich takes time I guess.

Nothing consistent other than PB & J. But things I’m a fan of include breaded chicken cutlets, hot peppers, chipotle mayo, avocado, roasted red peppers, spinach, tomatoes. Any combination of those on an italian hero with seeds or ciabatta is easy enough for me.
I just finished a goose salami on a buttered white bun w/low fat mozza & home made dill pickles. No condiments, that would ruin the taste of the home made salami

WTF is a sandwich “recipe”? Are you that bad of a cook?

Dice up some banana peppers and mix it into tuna fish with some mayo. Put it on toasted sourdough, with sliced tomato and provolone. The banana peppers give it a nice kick; add some spicy mustard if you want to up the ante a little more.
A recipe is contrary to my notion of a sandwich. Apart from the PBJ, my sandwiches start with a look into the fridge to see what happens to be in there.
I think the key to a good sandwich is more having quality ingredients than any particular ingredients, with the most important ingredient being the bread.
This past weekend we went to an Italian deli and market by our house. Freshly made bread, sliced on the spot, and good cuts of meat and cheese from the deli. I like a little bit of spice, so pepperoncini. We also have a Panini press, so buttered outer side of each slice.
Shred up some leftover chicken. (a can of Costco Chicken Breast will do)
spoon of low fat mayo
diced celery
diced sweet pickles
salt and pepper to taste
Serve on white bread
