I have been contracted to try and build a wearable, carbon fibre ring. I decided to give it a whirl. More will be posted later. I am curing it at the moment.
It’s out of the “autoclave” (ha ha). It don’t look too bad in it’s present state.
pictures please…
How about a carbon fiber (aero of course) case that I can attach to my XLAB bottle holder to store my tubes and Co2 cartridges in that would enable me to easy and quickly get my tubes out for a tire change…
hey bunnyman—yeah i saw something like that on ebay a few weeks ago.
put some pics up when you’re done, eh?
jeremyb
been done before…
I had a client company that designed medical devices out of a proprietary carbon - very high tech stuff in terms of durability, toughness, flex and biocompatibility. Their senior management made themselves wedding bands out of the stuff. www.mcritx.com
Yeah, I know which ones you’re talking about. The one I saw was an aluminium band wrapped over carbon. I don’t know what the bio-compatibility is with aluminium.
I did it a bit differently. You will see.
I will have to look at this. I am certain that what they have is something that I could only dream of getting a hold of. This band is shaping up to be something pretty cool, itself (if I should say so myself), but it is probably not even on the same type of scale as a medical carbon fibre.
Wait until you see the pics. It looks great!
After a year of lurking there is actually something i can post about.
aha!
So you’ve found me whilst lurking on this forum.
The clear coat is baking right now.
Another polish and it’ll be done.
