95% of the time I use continental tubes but have found I have a problem when using then with any valve extender, They don’t seem to let the air through. I’ve taken the cores out and inflated fine so no problem with the valve/extender, then I’ve used a core from another tube brand and works fine. No idea why, has anyone else had this problem? What am I doing wrong?
I use HED wheels and HED extenders and about half the time the conti valves will leak. They go flat in 24 hours.
Let’s see if you are doing it right.
-
Use a tool to remove the core from the valve that’s attached to the tube.
-
Install that core to the valve extender.
-
Screw the valve extender to the valve on the tube. I use thread sealant tape to prevent the leak.
Are you doing this way?
Yep. The. reattached the core to the extender and more often than not when I inflate the pump head blows off the value due to too much pressure. If I change the core to another brand then it works fine.

Have you tried a different pump? It’s possible Continental valve core’s design is slightly different so when you engage the pump, core is pressed down so air is not coming through? I’m just trying weed out other possibilities.
Yep, same happens on different pumps and CO2 inflator
