Is anyone in Europe (non-UK) buying their running shoes online? Good/bad service? Selection?
FWIW, I do buy locally at Ryffel Running in Uster, CH, but am doing some research on online shops.
Thanks much for any info,
Scott

i have two comments to your post. first, i’ve spent a fair bit of time in uster, and you can’t do better than to buy your shoes from urs ryffel (and, that lake behind his shop is great for open water swimming, just not this time of year). please, if you see him and think about him, extend to him my best. he is a wonderful guy and, to the best of my knowledge, his brother marcus is still, at 13:07, the national record holder at 5000m (and is of course an olympic silver medalist in that event).
if, however, you’re looking for an online footwear vendor, consider the shop total running, owned by a Slowtwitch editor-at-large jeroen van geelen. one of his articles is here. jeroen is one of our slowtwitch experts on technical running footwear, and this is his particular category on slowtwitch for which he writes. he’s got an excellent digital storefront, i think you’ll be happy there.

This is an Uster love in. Great. I live like 5mins from his store and buy my shoes there also - his new shop is cool, esp the indoor track/road strip down the middle.
Thanks Dan, I’ll contact him. (it’s regarding bus dev for a startup running shoe company I’m helping out)
Ja, the Greifensee is fantastic for swimming*. I lived there for 4 years and worked next to the lake for last 8–a luxury to run down for a lunch hour swim with clear water, no power boats and the snowy Alps as backdrop. There’s also a U.S. B-17 somewhere in the lake from a 1944 crash.(I think some bits recovered).

*and makes for a great brick workout from Zurich–run 70-80 minutes from the city over the hill, swim across the lake, then a final run to either Greifensee or Uster train station for the return trip.

we don’t have a b17 in our local lake. just another reason why uster is great for open water. i wonder how it got there.
