Has anybody ever dealt with Conti Costumer service? Does such a thing exist. I have sent 4 emails in the past 3 weeks with no response. Has anybody had better luck. It sucks paying top dollar for a tubular tire that comes apart as quick as it is mounted.
Anybody else having trouble with the Compition 19 tubulars coming apart on the under side of the tire?
Essentially the strip of fabric that covers the sown threads on the underside of the tire completely separated. The tire itself seems to be fine. It holds air fine and no other flaws that I can see.
Is this piece of fabric, which is essentialy rim tape glued to the tire needed? Just trying to find a fix other than paying $80 for a new tire.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Looking back I should have stayed with clinchers. Oh well, live and learn.
that fabric is held to the tyre by contact glue. just go buy some vittoria mastik glue and glue it back to the tyre. or use whatever contact cement you are currently using to glue the tub to the rim.
I had a continental tubular come apart after about 100 miles. Rather than going through Continental the company, I ended up locating their North American Distributor and got an RA number through them.
It’s been a couple years, but I think you can go through http://www.bikemine.com/ to take care of that.
Conti’s service sucks. They are super slow to respond and when they do they are rude and their final answer on everything is “Go back to the retailer you bought it from and request an exchange/return”.
Continental is distributed through Highway Two. They’re still going to tell you to go through the retailer you purchased it through as it makes the process easier for them. What we do in our store is exchange the tire for the customer and then periodically send in a batch or tell our outside sales rep. Another reason to build a relationship with a store.
