Contest over! winner announced this week!

UPDATE:

It will still be a few days before the votes are counted and a deal is struck on the new bike or bikes. I’ll post the winners and need there address’ for shipping prizes. Stay tuned!

OK, Just picking the brains of the ST tribe. Given that I am doing Olymp. racing mostly, what would you get in the middle to upper price range of tri bikes? Please don’t upset me and list any road bikes, I am a believer in tri bikes for tri’s and road bikes for road. Please list any neat doo dads to go with it like ZG brakes or any other bike candy. And, to sweeten the pot, if I end up getting the bike you list I’ll send one lucky winner some free ZB schwag! Bring it!

If it fits you, you might like this. A good deal:

Doesn’t get much higher end than this:

Screw ZG, I’d try and get a pair of these if you can find them:

Here’s your new fork for you:

Aerobars, I’d either swing The New Oval aero bars (when they hit store chelves)

http://www.cyclingnews.com/photos/2005/tour05/tech/?id=round-up2/050701oval_bar

or the ITM’s

What kind of wheels and component group were you planning? Those will also dictate what goes on the bike.

That is a sweet price, and an even sweeter deal (e.g. DA for under 2k!!!) I bought a close-out Felt road bike last year from Tom and I am very impressed with Felt.

A little high end but. www.catbike.ch

THE CAT CHEETAH

Cheetah Info Cheetah Data Price List

The CAT Cheetah represents a configuration which does full justice to the properties of carbon fiber / epoxy composites, and displays high torsional strength and excellent aerodynamics. These aerodynamic properties have been documented by the test report carried out on several aeroframes by the renowned and respected German magazine “Tour Magazine”.

An entirely new kind of front fork / handlebar unit (“X Forks”) was developed for the extremely stiff monocoque frame. The fork blades pass the fork bridge up to handlebar height and make a conventional stem and handlebar unnecessary.
The aerobar is installed onto the aerofoil profiled fork blades at the height required by the rider.

The risk of fractures is decreased by the additional inclusion of Kevlar in the laminary layers. The saddle tube also has an aerodynamic, wing-profile shape and is also made of carbon fiber. The seat height can be adjusted through 8 cm.

Every Cheetah is made-to-measure according to a personal measurement sheet and is therefore suitable for riders of every size. Personal preferences regarding components and level of equipment can also be respected. CAT CHEETAH DATA

My dream bike anyway.

I ride a P3, but I think you get your biggest bang for the buck with Felt…my friend loves his.

This one needs some work, but it’s got the “basic idea”

http://www.londoncyclesport.com/bikes/mickael_lotus/bike.jpg.

SOOOOO far so good my ST friends but I expected much more from a highly established group such as yourselves. Keep them coming. I up the ante to the winner. A BodyZen DVD of choice and a pair of cycling socks!! Game On!

Elite T-Class or Magnus. Great bikes, good pricing, and Dave G. will do your bike up anyway you want. I have a Razor and couldn’t be happier. Oh, and there American made.

What color are your uniforms this year?

I vote for the litespeed blade, aero, beautiful and you don’t have to worry about dings when transporting it, plus it will last forever
.

P3 you gay monkey.

Here you go Lee- pick which one ya like and Ill pick it up at R&A for ya and bring it down to ya when I see ya in about 4 weeks

Guru Chron’Alu – it’s a bike that doesn’t get in the way of the rider. As good as anything out there, but reasonably priced. Considering how good it it, I think it’s a bargain. No frills, but no corner cutting either. All aluminum, no carbon rear-end (which is superflous anyway, methinks). Build it with Ultegra, or DA if you’ve got a little extra $$. This is a bike that should last a long time and is fast enough to win any race on (if you’ve got the engine, of course).

I’m a believer that bikes should be solid, not gimicky. Thus, no doo dads to recommend, but for Time RSX pedals. these are the best pedals out there right now, about a step ahead of SPDSL and 3 steps ahead of Speedplay.

Personally, I would go custom–because why not. That being said I would offer two different choices. Both are time tested, precision builders. They have the experience and the reputation to be able to sufccessfully build one-off frames. I also narrowed it down to the unique, I think that Ves would fall under this category but yaqui is often touted on this forum, so I will leave it to others to introduce his work.

Steel:

http://www.yamaguchibike.com/images/y2k-tt.jpg

Yamaguchi is the hero of many kerin riders, and builds beautiful frames. The steel he is using has a ridiculously thin minor diameter, but it is steel so it is incredibly strong and comfortable for long distance racing. I like his forks and time trial bars as well. All options are customizable, not just fit. If you come up with a great idea, he will make it happen.

Aluminium:

http://www.tiemeyercycles.com/images/aerott.jpg

David made many of the olympic team bikes and was a poineer of the aero tubing revolution. He has wind tunnel pedigree up the wahoo. I think he used to work in the airplane industry–or something similar. If you want you can get the origional reynolds aero aluminum tubeset, which rocked.

As for goodies–MDT is a good source. Especially their steel forks.

I also like their chainrings:

For the ridiclous in frames (and prices) moots will make you one of these–the administrator of your trust fund may cut you off however:

http://www.insidetri.com/images/bike/1989.868.f.jpg

I can’t find a picture of one but, Indurain used to ride a campy front disk with four holes in the center. I guess the modern equivalent would be the HED cona coast but that was only offered on the rear.

As for brakes. I have the Dura-Ace AX brakes pictured above. I don’t recomend them unless you are going for that vintage look. What did kick ass though, were the mavic brakes that came with the ZAP group. The lever folded flush with the body of the caliper and hte single pivot had weak shoulders so it hugged the fork crown. I think there was a dia comp model that performed similarly.

Also, keywin pedals. Superlight, relativly cheap and if you hit a pedal in a corner you wont skip as much–the plastic just sort of grinds away. The ability to confidantly pedal through corners is worth some serious time:

If you can’t tell yet, I love posting this stuff. I’ll probably come up with more later, but this will have to do for now.

Tri this

blah, blah, blah… skip the mass production bikes.

Although I’ve replaced the FSA compacts with Rotorcranks and the saddle with an airione tri. Don’t copy my paint job though ; ).

You got to go with what fits your personality and something that you would be proud “sporting” down in South Beach. Go with the original BIKE. (Note: This is the same bike Monk got; maybe you could see how his fits you.) http://images.snapfish.com/34445%3A%3A723232fp54%3Dot>2327%3D%3A3%3A%3D489%3DXROQDF>23236%3B4%3A8<2%3B5ot1lsi

Man, life must be tough with a second “member” growing out of the center of your left thigh. I have enough problems with one of those things.

Yo Big Dog,

Check out my selections

Hope this helps, also, it would be nice to get a copy of that stretching DVD, hehehehehehehehe
