Computrainer/virtual trainer mac compatible

Due to moving to a more urban area, it looks like i’m finally going to have to buy a computrainer or 1 of the cycleops trainers w/ virtual trainer.

My question-are either of there Mac compatible?

computrainer software isn’t, but it works fine with perfpro or trainerroad, which both work on mac.

you don’t need software to use computrainer’s erg mode.

When I got my CT back in 2010 I looked into this. Everything I read was that it would work in Parrells or Boot Camp but could be buggy. I ended up just buying a cheap PC laptop which I still use today. That’s the only thing I use it for though.

I have a computrainer and a mac…load windows on the mac…it is simple. Your mac has a program on it that does all the work for you…look for bootcamp…you just need a copy of windows.

Golden Cheetah works on the Mac. No Windows-emulation required, and it’s free:

thank! buying a copy of windows sounds a lot better than buying a shitty PC i would only use when on the computrainer

I use the CompuTrainer software software on my Mac by loading Windows into VMWare Fusion (like Parallels). Everything works except for the ERG video stuff. Lately though, I’ve mostly been using GoldenCheetah. Native on the Mac (and Windows and Linux)

what the erg video component of the computrainer? also, what does Golden Cheetah consist of?

The ERG videos show a real video of a particular course (e.g. IMLP) and adjusts the resistance on the CompuTrainer. I don;t have any, so not a big loss. GoldenCheetah is an open source cycling analysis, training software package. I used this primarily on my Mac now for power based training. You can find out more about it here: http://goldencheetah.org/

Version 3.0 is coming out soon.

Yep…I was going to buy a cheap PC and thought I would try running Windows on the mac…it works great. Very easy…and I am computer idiot.

does your Mac have the requirement to run all of the computrainer features?? what Mac do you have?

you can find a good cpu for $300 to $400 that will run everything.
