Compression tights (4)

I’m running a marathon and then boarding a plane for a long flight the same day. I’ve decided to buy some compression tights to try and keep myself from getting a blood clot and also to help my legs recover. Given that they are kind of expensive, i also want tights that I can run in. I’m looking at the 2xu elite tights and also the zoot and skins recovery tights. It seems like the 2xu would be the most versatile (recovery and running) but i’m looking for some opinions.

I ran a 50 miler Ultra in the Skins tights. They were never uncomfortable at any point in the race. They do have a small mesh panel directly under the boys which makes for an interesting “draft” on occasion

were you in the regular tights or the “recovery tights”?

I just checked the label, they say, “Sexy Pants” :stuck_out_tongue: I am not sure what type they are. They are the compression tights but I threw away the packaging a long time ago. Sorry.

I have a pair of the 2XU tights and two pairs of the Skins She tights (which I believe are designed for active use as well as recovery - unlike the non-gender specific models with longer legs, the She line only has one pair of tights).

Anyway I vastly prefer the Skins. I run in them and use them for traveling. The material is thicker, the seams are better constructed (I had to warranty my 2XU for falling apart and now the replacement pair is falling apart) and they are more comfortable.

did you ever consider socks, they do not fall apart…

I checked into the compression tights and have worn the surgical compression socks for years when I fly. A much cheaper option is to buy them from a surgical supply store. You can buy the 20-30 mm/Hg which are just about exactly the same type of compression you get from the “tri” version. The only differences are (1) they are not pretty fancy tights you wear by themselves and (2) cost, they are about 50% cheaper. I’ve been using the Jobst for recovery and travel for several years and they hold up great. Just my $.02 worth.

2xU Elite tights rock I am wearing them right now. Great to run in and for recovery. They are not to warm. Actually if it cold outside you might want something above them.

those sound good for the plane, but then you dont have to buy other tights to run in

I have had a pair of CW-X tights last 3 years now of weekly use in the winter months and they have held up great
