So i wore compression socks at IMFLA. Overall felt great with them (don’t know if there was any difference, but definetely no negative) The interesting thing was, I have been suffering from achilles tendonitis for a year and a half now. Everyday after a long run I am limping for a while in the morning. I have been doing strengthening and stretching for it, and it isn’t getting worse.
First of all I didn’t even feel a twinge in the achilles during the race, and the day after I had no pain whatsoever. Anyone else have experience or knowledge about this?
The socks I used are CEP and have a achilles support feature in them.
Just curious, and would love to think this was helping out!
2 years ago my PT recommended I try some compression socks to help with the blood flow in my leg that had chronic AT. That and a ton of other things (including ART, massage, stretching, foam roller, eccentric stretching, icing and 3 months off from running and biking) cured it. But I like how the socks make my legs feel, so I wear them now.
I’ve had achilles problems for about 16 yrs. Back then I would put a 6-pack of beer on ice and after the run would drink the beer and soak my feet. Then I used heel lifts and cut the back of my shoes and wore socks to bed. Recently, because of Slowtwitch, I bought a pair of compression socks and use them whenever my achilles feel sore and have never felt better after a run.
Nice race at IMFL…looked like a solid overall performance!
I have been using compression socks for about a year now…mostly for sleeping and long air flights…they make a big difference for me…I did use 2XU socks at IMLP only for the run and thought my calves felt more fresh.
For recovery I use drug store basic ones…they are fine.

From talking with my physio yesterday, he seems to think that there would be a substantial benefit to wearing these to support the achilles. Looks like I need to buy a new pair or two.
Those CEP socks do look nice, but man are they expensive. Are there any other brands out there that function roughly the same for a cheaper price. I can’t shell out $60.00 for a pair of socks.
