Coming to SEDONA, AZ looking for training partners

Hi,
My name is Omer Cohen,
I’m a 33 y.o Personal Trainer from Miami, FL

I have 60 more days for the New Zealand IronMan.
It will be my first IronMan.
I’ll be spending a week training in the mountains in SEDONA, AZ
Staying there from Feb. 16-23 and looking for locals to ride / run with.
Also, I need to know where can I find there a 50m swimming pool.

Please let me know if you’re in the area, I wouldn’t like to ride by myself.
Avg Speed 23MPH

Let me know,
Omer.

PM Zipp. Paul is a local.

Hey Omer,

I am closing on a house in Sedona on February 17th. I will arrive there on the 15th really late and will be busy with house stuff until the 17th. After that, I’m ready to go. A friend of mine will be coming too. We’re both staying until the 25th. A third guy might also join us. We’re all decent riders.
Where will you be staying?

Tony Delogne

Omer,

I’ll apologize for not calling you. We’ve been very busy and my wife and I just got back from a 5 day trip.

I’ll gladly run and bike with you while you are here. As far as swimming is concerned…ouch…no pools except an indoor 25m resort pool I can get you into at a reduced cost while you are here. Its about 1 mile from our Inn.

If you are averaging 23 miles per hour where you are you’ll need to reduce that anticipated speed alot. With the mountains and thin air you’ll be going alot slower. When I was living in FL I was averaging 22 or so for a ride, here its about 17 on a good day. The thin air and mountains take their toll.

I have many run routes, most very hilly unless we run the high school track : ) We can ride mingus mountain, 4000ft of climbing in 14 miles. We have a 40 mile loop we can do also. We can also run trails if you wish. YOu arrive just after the Sedona marathon, Feb 7th.

Hi Paul,

I’ll be staying with my Mom at La Quinta. They charge me $682.32 for 7 nights, including taxes.
I’d love to stay at your place, Casa Sedona, if you can give me a good deal on that week.
This way i’ll get a better chance to meet you and leave from your place with other riders.
Please let me know if you can work out a nice deal for me at Casa Sedona.
I appreciate it!
You can always reach me on my cell at: 305-318-1213

Omer.

Tony,

Feel free to call me on my cell so we make the rigfht arrangements to meet on the 17th or the 18th and ride.
I need a good week of training there.
I gotta be ready for New Zealand.

Omer,

I’ll call you closer to the date. I plan on running and riding everyday. Probably not Iron distances, but we’ll see how the legs come out of this frigid New England Winter.

If Paul doesn’t mind, we could meet in front of Casa Sedona for that first ride.

Paul,

Where is the indoor 25m pool you are talking about? Is it accessible to the public or do you have to be a member? What’s the schedule and fees for lap swim or Masters workout? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I stayed at Casa Sedona a few years ago. I think it was still the previous owner. Very nice place and the breakfasts were amazing. Especially the toasts with peach and custard topped with whipped cream.

I bought the place in March of 06.

The pool is a private club that we have a deal with for our guests. I can try and get us all in a few times while you are here.

BTW - where is the house? Are we going to be neighbors? We’re in west Sedona in Thunder Mountain Ranch just off Dry Creek Rd.

We’ll be on Rockridge in the SaddleRock subdivision.

I’d love it if we could try the resort pool. Where else do people swim in Sedona? Anything organized?
There will definitely be 2 of us, 3 if my wife wants to swim. And I’m waiting for someone to confirm he will join us. He probably won’t be there for the whole time though.

Are you going to Phoenix for the Desert Duathlon on the 22nd?

Saddlerock…you are nearly across 89A from us. We are behind the Giant Station on 89A, near city hall. I’ll have to get directions to the pool. Its on your side of 89A, to the west from you. I don’t swim train so I’ll need to get directions from my managers on how to get to the pool we contract with : ( I’ll set up a few swims for you. We get discounted daily rates for our guests.

The only organized swimming is at the Sedona City Pool during the summer months. They have a small masters program. The city pool is right across 89A from Saddlerock Subdivision. Its an outdoor pool with awesome views of the red rocks at each turn : ) I doubt it’ll be open by the end of February. Its still winter here.

I am signed up and ready to race the Desert Classic Duathlon. I was just contacted by a Look rep and my new bike should be here around the 10th of February. Its shipping from France on January 29th. Hopefully I can get it built and setup with a few training rides before the race. If not, I’ll be on my Zipp.

Is it 70?

If it is, the city pool is right near the base of the red rock across the road from you, Coffee Pot rock. You can see the rock in the pics on the real estate page of your place. : )

That’s the one. #70.

We’re staying in VOC at the Hilton for the 2 nights before we move in. Their pool is supposed to be reopened on the 11th. Crossing my fingers it is on schedule.

I know I am dragging this message from the depths of ST, but it is relevant…

Starting in the new year my wife and I are moving to Sedona. we both lived in Arizona previously, and i have been working in Flagstaff remotely for the past 18 months.
It is time to get closer to my office in Flagstaff as she starts her new job in Sedona.

Looking to connect with anyone in town, for running, cycling and swimming, or more importantly coffee and beer

Thanks in advance
Chris Jackson
