Columbus, oh folks: chiro, massage, antrim lake water temp?

I’m going to be in Columbus this weekend for the races at Antrim park, and I may need to find a chiro and massage on Friday. Any suggestions, preferably with both in one location? Also, does anyone know roughly what the water temp is? I emailed the race organizers and their response was to bring a wetsuit, but they didn’t include anything about what it currently is, or how warm it’s likely to be in a few days.

Here you go:

Bring the wetsuit. My guess is that it will NOT be wetsuit legal; the RD does use USAT officials and the RD will let them make the call. It has been sunny and in the mid 80’s for weeks; but, it will be a close call.

This is a great event, exceptionally well run. hope you enjoy it.

Send me a PM if you have any additional questions. Stop by the Central Ohio Triathlon Team tent (COTT) - most likely we will be set up with the other vendors…

Both of the below are relatively close to the race site:

Water temp is hard to say because this particular body of water (Antrim Lake) has no beach and does not allow swimming other than for the races. So you won’t find anybody who has been in it other than dogs. Having said that, I’ve done this race three times and it has been above 78 every time. My best guess is it will be in that 78-84 range where you can wear wetsuits if you want, but you won’t be eligible for awards. That’s just an educated guess based on other bodies of water in the area - take it for what it’s worth.

Enjoy, it’s an unusual but fun event.

Columbus Ohio here, What are the races at Antrim park? I think I have rode my bike by it a few times before and the comments are true Re: dogs, I have seen them swiming there every time I have rode by, nor did I see a beach.

Massage wise Hand on Therapy is a good spot in Gahanna.

Open water swims on Saturday, and a sprint and Oly on Sunday. See http://fatrabbitracing.com/Events/ColumbusInternationalTriathlon/Default.aspx

Yeah, I’m really looking forward to it. I lived in Columbus for most of the '90s, and that’s where I first started running when I decided to do something other than just sit on my ass and drink beer all of the time. I’ve wanted to do this race ever since they started it, but this will be my first time. I’m really looking forward to riding on 315.

I’ll actually be surprised if it is wetsuit legal, but I figure I’ll take it anyway; it’s not like it takes up that much space in the car. The woman who originally told me to bring it said that you’re expecting some rain today and tomorrow, so that might cool it off some.

this is a great race. I love the location since it is where I do lots of my training.
As for the water temp, I have done the race three years and it has never been a wetsuit race for me, in fact it was my first non wetsuit race. The body of water is pretty small. I am generally a cold person and I think it would be too warm to wear a wetsuit for the race.
I plan to do the open water swims on Saturday and don’t plan to wear wetsuits for any of those either.
BTW, the water is suprisingly clear, when you get to the far end of the swim you can totally see the bottom! Its bizarre.

Yea, I’ve always felt like Antrim Lake is actually the best OW swimming location in the area. It’s an old quary and the water is great. I’ve also often wondered if swimming there is really prohibited like everybody thinks it is. Last time I checked, there actually aren’t any signs forbidding swimming posted there - I think it’s more of an understanding or assumption. Columbus Parks’ website is silent on the issue (I did a search once).

Anyway, more than once I’ve been tempted to just jump in and see if anyone does anything about it. Maybe someday…

There is a sign there now that says swimming in the lake is prohibited.
I don’t think it went up til after last year’s event tho.

Bummer
