I was cleaning a very great amount of glue buildup of a carbon wheel (corima disc) today. I used acetone and a scotch brite pad to get most of the buildup off. However, I think I used a little too mucha acetone and some of it leaked onto the flat side of the disc. Now, wherever it leaked, there are white streaks on the side of the wheel that I can’t remove. My guess is that these streaks are glue that dripped along the entire wheel, but I can’t get them to come off with more acetone. Is it possible that I am taking some sort of finish off of the carbon? Does anyone have any recommendations for other solvents besides acetone? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Sorry, just wanted to bounce it back up to the top. I would appreciate anyone’s thoughts. Thanks
Bestine rubber cement remover from the hardware store works spectacularly well. Neither that or acetone will damage carbon.
