Christian music star accused of sexual assault by 3 men

Yikes.

But why am I no longer surprised by stuff like this:
“The allegations about Tait’s behavior revealed today starkly contrast with the public image that he cultivated for nearly four decades. The 59-year-old native of Washington DC has sold 18m albums, containing songs that often encouraged young Christians to stay sober, abstinent and straight. But sources who spoke to the Guardian claimed Tait’s alleged drug use and alleged abusive behavior were the “biggest open secret in Christian music.”

I will give him credit for this…

In the Instagram statement, Tait wrote: “I am ashamed of my life choices and actions and make no excuses for them. I will simply call it what God calls it – sin.” He added: “While I might dispute certain details in the accusations against me, I do not dispute the substance of them.

“Even before this recent news became public, I had started on a path to health, healing, and wholeness … I accept the consequences of my sin and am committed to continuing the hard work of repentance and healing – work [which] I will do quietly and privately, away from the stage and the spotlight.”

I read more of the article. I will still give him credit for owning his behavior, but he is/was a fake.

Well, he’s no Ian MacKaye nor Henry Rollins

Even though I know it exists, I’m continously amazed there are bunch of rich people out there from making Christian music.

Sin…

Zero points awarded. Everyone “sins” but not every sin is criminal sexual assault. He’s a fucking predator, a wolf in shepherd’s clothing, describing himself as a garden variety imperfect person with self improvement work to do just like you and me.

The allegations were probably impossible to suppress any longer. He didn’t go public to help his victims or to set right a wrong.

Fuck that guy.

Yeah. I read more of the article after I posted that. He is a predator and a fake. I still give him some credit for not blaming anyone else and for owning his behavior - but that’s what all people should do.

“and, at times, touched men in an unwanted sensual way”

Touched…sensual…

That’s not owning his behavior, it’s downplaying. He (allegedly) drugged and assaulted them.

But I’m sure he’s repented so heaven awaits.

It sounds like he is working hard to pray that gay away.

This.

I’m annoyed when Christians get caught in something and always refer to it as a sin. It’s just a version of the whatabout defense. Everybody sins, this is just my personal version even if it goes way beyond taking the Lord’s name in vain.

So can we assume he is pleading guilty without a deal and going to prison as well as liquidating his assets and reaching very large settlements with everyone he assaulted?

I’m guessing no.

This! I’ll believe that he’s accepting the consequences when this happens. I’m not holding my breath.

When I say “fuck these people” I mean it literally

Leveraging your status as a Mega-dollar earning Pastor or whatnot to get boys to suck your cock? A beefy (MON-White)joint thrust up your asshole M-W-F might be adequate compensation

I could be wrong

Maybe he could write a song about it

A lot of very rich people. A lot of them cross over genres.

“Jesus Is In Me (Again)”?

I spotted this in NC a few years ago.

Maybe he should go to this parish, they cured this guy.

Sensual? I think the word he’s looking for is rapey.

H/T David Bryne TED talk

Here’s a lyric from a Christian band I’ve been following since the early '90s.

Their experience with Nashville record company execs revealed it’s all about the money.

They never signed with a big label.
