Chrissie on her way

With 21.4K left she needs to run 1:35:40 to break the 8:35 mark. Looks like she can still do it. The live updates say she is still smiling. Looks like Team TBB Rebekah Keat could be under the current World Record as well but with Chrissie 7mins up on her she will have to have some major problems for Keat to catch her.

Is anyone else watching the live updates or it just me?

I am. hit me up on Yahoo.

She is well on her way…it isn’t a matter of her breaking it…it is by how much. She smashed the bike and left herself with a 3:11 marathon “cushion” in order to break the record. I am sure she isn’t thinking about the record right now…especially since Keat is racing is great!

Eric,

I am stuck at work with nothing to do. We had a few planes this morning but haven’t had anything to do for the last 5 hours. Good thing there was some racing going on this weekend. Went home at lunch and called Des since he was down at Jeju to see how that went. Just waiting for turnover to come in. If you are still on when I get home I will hit you up on YIM.

Brad

Yeah, Chrissie is an amazing athlete and when I read Roth had ideal conditions, on the website right before I went to bed last night, I had a feeling she was going to come out on top. I’m anxiously waiting to see if she’ll break the record and it looks like she will the way she’s running.

On the other hand, Norman Stadler finishes 4th which is a very respectble place but for someone who is held in such high regard has been losing ground and posting disappointing results at the big races. It seems that he’s running out of steam on the run or is dealing with cramping like he did in Kona. I’m curious to find out more about what’s going on with him.

roth Live Ticker says Chrissie could finish in 8:31
.

Yeah 4th is still respectable, but with all the Hype about him and being able to break the bike record and then not doing it was pretty disappointing IMHOP…Can’t get the live feed here at work but able to watch the finish camera and the ticker so waiting for chrissie to finish. Anyone know how close Keat is getting?

Chrissie Wellington finished 8:31:59
.

Looked like Keat was 8:41:XX?? Amazing for 2 of the women to break the old record on the same day same course. Shows truly how fast Roth is and how great these athlets are. Chrissie did not just break it she shattered it…

PhysFarm athlete Catriona Morrison just finished 3rd in 8:48:11. Really stoked for her…it’s her first Ironman!

absolutely awesome, how did the men’s shake out?

Wow. Has anyone read any results of studies on Wellington’s VO2 max, resting HR, muscle composition, etc?

Thx top 15 men under 8:30 and soo many women killing the 9 hour mark, i need to get my butt to Roth and do this race, maybe there is hope for sub 11!?!??!

But everyone knows these european ironmans are short :stuck_out_tongue:

Just kidding…maybe they have higher quality pavement on the roads…makes the tires roll faster
.

Chrissy is unreal!

This is a notable results also:

.3. USSHER, Richard (NZE) 8:02:15 (50:31/4:22:02/2:46:58)

Richard Ussher kept a pretty low profile before this race. I heard he was in Finland with his wife so wasn’t surprised when I saw his name on the start list.

It is a pretty good effort because he has been to doing kayaking multisport races for the past 10 yeras and only has done IMNZ 2 times in the last 2 years. Knew he could do it and have been putting articles up about him.

I think he will go to Kona this year as he has already qualified this year. But top 10 somewhere will be a good result for him there.

He lived in Queenstown for quite a while recently where I also reside sometimes and I did talk with him earlier this year. He won the half which all the good guys did and i won the standard distance which was timed to finish at the same time. So that is why I like to promote his success a bit.

“Chrissie Wellington finished 8:31:59”

I want to have her babies.

Another great day for Cervelo!

That new coach and bike position sucks. It is clear as day she needs Sutton back.
