This has been going for a while obviously, but the general public know nothing but accusations and he said/she said. I won’t add to that speculation but sunny definitely has a following of pitch forkers!

I do hope that if Macca did anything along the lines of what Sunny is accusing him of, that he’s held responsible… I wonder if the 62 person, Bahrain 13 security detail, is not more for him than for the other dude.
Full well knowing what he would be confronting with the law, if he had anything to hide I am sure he wouldn’t be coming to Hawaii. At least I would stay away… I guess we can only wait and see what transpires. No one knows any different so a bit of a pointless thread?
“…what you did to her…” Heard similar fuzzy allegations years ago and I still don’t know what he allegedly did. Without that there is nothing to discuss.
Had forgotten about this. What state doesn’t detain someone accused of such a thing if they are a flight risk? What is the statute of limitations there? If he goes back that says something. Especially because if you believd the comments he has just as good of a chance of getting assaulted there himself as he does of being arrested.
Whats the point of it? Is it furthering the case? In Britain things like this can stop a case from progressing because the defence can argue they can’t get a fair jury.
Personally I think all people in these situations should remain anonymous until the verdict is given.

what did you find out when you went down to the police station in kona? i hear you got the relevant police reports, when nobody else did. you interviewed family members. found the person heading the investigation in kona, interviewed her, and wrote a contemporaneous story with all the facts then known. and i have to hand it to you, kiley, you kept up on this for months, upwards of a year, coming back to the police investigator to see whether the investigators had come up with anything. had made a charge. issued a warrant.

In my opinion, suing for libel is a no brainer in this case unless you have something to hide. I’m gearing up to sue a guy for a lesser acccusation made about me on instagram and this guy at least promptly deleted that post immediately afterwards. You can’t take back stuff like that, and if you have the resources and the truth backs you, you sue the fuck out of them.
it’s hard to deny something very traumatic happened. the aftermath cost people their jobs. caused a lot of angst in the triathlon community. my best sense tells me that either the local police investigators on the big island are inept; or that they are good at what they do and they just didn’t find evidence of a crime; or the victim chose to remain quiet, either because of a cash settlement or some other reason. maybe there’s another alternative, but if so i can’t see what it would be. i wouldn’t say sonny’s got nothin. i just don’t know what. absent a complainant who’s complaining, i’m not a good enough reporter to find the story here.

i was at the police station. pulling reports. digging around, finding out what i could. when i read that tweet you posted, that parallels what i remember at the time. but, tell me, what is actionable in that tweet? i’m not a lawyer. but, what is the crime sonny is saying happened? i know what you and i think is the crime that sonny’s tweet (or instagram post) plants in our minds. in our imaginations. but it’s not explicit in that tweet. it’s very similar to prior posts, which were written about here.
what you’re saying, i think, is that if sonny just came out and said it, a lawsuit ensues, and discovery commences, piercing whatever hush agreement might govern the comments from any parties. yes. makes sense. or, the calculus is made that it’s better just to ignore the occasional tweet or instagram post. i don’t know which.

I’m going with money changing hands, this whole thing went very dark after everyone left the island. I too am surprised he is showing up, I would not want that guy on my bad side(Sonny), be hard to sleep at night…

Read Sonny’s instagram post. His instagram post is a big nothing burger designed to rile up the willfully ignorant with nothing more than innuendo. But you certainly bought it.
And not for nothing but as the article states, yes, they reached out to Macca.
