Looking to replace a headset and have zero steerer tube excess, I was looking at a chris King headset however the cups look like they add some stack height to the frame has any one experienced a rise upfront with the head set after installation?
I’m confused…the Chris King is an external headset, as opposed to a hiddenset or somesuch…I hope you’re not considering the CK for replacing an internal headset…???
Other than that, the CK can’t be more than +/- 1mm compared to the alternatives.
To get the true stack height of your frame (assuming you’re talking stack to the bottom of the stem), though, as it meets reality on your particular bike…YES, you need to include the headset height. There is no alternative for you, if you’re not confused about the first point above…

It depends on the headset your replacing. Look up the model you have an check it versus the CK stack.
