Chlorine skin - - how do you get rid of it?

I started back swimming today (first time since Oct). I forgot how badly my skin wreaks of chlorine during the season. The smell usually last for more than two showers - - which means it never goes away - - and let me tell you, I’m not affraid to scrub hard.

Anyone have a recommendation on getting rid of the smell? Special soaps or the like?

I usually just work out again later so that I sweat out the chlorine. That is the only thing that I have found works. Just showering doesn’t work because your pores aren’t all opened up, but a good workout, followed by a shower, usually does the trick.

On the bright side: You’re always really clean.

A lot of pools are using bromides in place of chlorides these days so that’s an option. Otherwise I find a good coat of lotion before the swim and after the shower creates a bit of a protective barrier (tough for the chlorine to soak in when your skin’s already ‘pre-soaked’).

Hope this helps.

Swim in the sea instead. Then you’ll smell like fish pee. Not nearly so bad as chlorine

Ultraswim makes a shower gel and shampoo and conditioner that removes chlorine from skin/ hair. They work really well. Search on Yahoo for it or buy it online at this site: http://www.clorders.com/ultraswim.htm

Wal Mart used to sell it too.
