Cherry blossom 10 mile roll call

This is going to be my second time doing this event. The course has been slightly changed for this years edition and it looks like its going to be a fast version of a already fast course. Any one else on Slowtwitch doing this? Tim

Any idea how to get a late entry? :frowning:

No, I don’t. This thing fills up every year faster then a North American Red Dot IM. However, if you volunteer this year, you get a gauranteed entry for next year. Tim

Wife and I will be running it. Last check, weather looks good low 60’s no rain.

Yeah this thing fills up really quickly.

I know it fills fast. The volunteer thing is fair of them but Washington is a bit of a trip for me and I am not THAT keen.

Tried to get into Beach2Beacon. Had to sign-in with iPhone as I was travelling that day. Was very slow and once it came through 3hrs after opening, it was full. Tough luck.
I’m sure Falmouth won’t see me either given my luck with that.
If I’d only be a tad faster I 'd ask for sub-elite excemption. Too slow though…

I got into Falmouth a few years back with a snappy essay. What I wrote was (and this is actually true) I live on a sailboat in Philadelphia and that I would sail from there to the race on Cape Cod to do the event. I included a picture of me sailing my boat and they did let me in and they published my essay and picture in the official race day magazine. The essay before mine was that of a cancer surviour and the one after mine was from a real space astronaut (if they ride around in that shuttle thing I guess that qualtifies them to be a astronaut). Any way I felt like maybe I didn’t deserve to get in, but I really did sail up there and was tied to a dock within a few hundred feet of the 10K marker (painted on the road) and had a good time in any event. Tim

I’m just regular asshole, no story like that.
Just spoke to a guy with a name in running regarding Cherry Blossom. But he said he’d be surprised if he’d get me in.
I try the Falmouth lottery first before I start whining. Do you think it might help if I say “I am ze German and I have ze tank.”?

I’m signed up and racing. Not sure what I’ll do on race day – still recovering from a full-on effort at the Shamrock Marathon a couple weeks ago.

It’s a fast course without question. Only some minor inclines and no significant hills. I hope the rain doesn’t knock all the Cherry Blossoms off the trees. It’s an amazing sight.

This is definitely awfully soon after the Shamrock Marathon. It might be for the best if you go into with the idea of taking slow and smelling the blossoms. Tim

It’s too late now, but this race has a pretty generous policy with transfering registrations that I wish more races had. Up to 3 weeks or so before the race, you could sell/give away your number and the recipient just had to pay a processing fee. Super easy.
Last year, I signed up only to DNS due to injury. This year, I was set to register but found out I had to go TDY for work. I’m waiting for the year when everything aligns!
