I’m not comparing them at all with regards to fit. I’m saying it would make no sense for Chelsea’s (lack of) performance being a reason for the split at this point in the year, given she is not the only Canyon athlete failing to set the world alight this season.How about comparing her with other top women, capable of full distance? Sodaro is one of the top 7 (to which one might add Hering for Nice).
Philipp has won multiple 70.3s already and gone on to podium in T100 SF. Matthews has won Texas and Vitoria and was second in T100 SF. Both on Canyons (Philipp taller, Matthews shorter). Who are the other women, besides Sodaro, partnered with and riding Canyons who are “failing to set the world alight”?
Yes, I expect Canyon is very happy with the value they are seeing from their other female triathletes such as those you’ve named. I wasn’t suggesting that Sodaro/Lange/Laidlow are performing poorly this year because they are riding a Canyon - was responding to the suggestion someone made up thread that Canyon may have initiated the split because they were frustrated with Sodaro’s lack of performance - which made no sense to me given there are other big names (in this case male) who that also applies to.
I would generally not think that any credible bike brand would ditch an athlete mid-season on the basis of a few months of performing below expectations. It seems pretty clear there is much more to this story which perhaps we will never know the details of.
How do employers fire employees? Usually they leave employees around to the very end. It’s just a pain letting people go if you can salvage something from them, because the next person has to be trained and onboarded and you don’t know what you will get, and finally the bottom layer end up in the next mass layoff.
Generally you have to do something really bad to get actually fired. So the other side, is employees fire companies. They don’t like the conditions of engagement any more and they just find something more suitable. So as far as I see she won IM NZ so Canyon got something so they would not cut this off and let things ride to the end to let the bottom performers go at the equivalent of their mass layoff. I am inclined to believe the company was fired in this case.

I think it’s the terse statement on instagram that raises more questions than answers and suggest some kind of falling out. Seems like that could have been avoided with a little more finessing - “this was the bike that propelled me to the course record at IM NZ, provided several beautiful bespoke paint jobs†etc etc etc
yeah, this is it for me. she doesn’t know me, or owe me anything, but the reason there’s 3 pages of speculation here is that she didn’t get out in front of it with a statement.

Nah, not buying that as a reason. Patrick Lange and Sam Laidlow don’t have two podiums to rub together between them so far this season but neither of them are mysteriously leaving their Canyon contract mid-season.
And as most of this discussion has been about height. What are the heights of Patrick and Sam??? They fit on the canyon bikes. Chelsea may feel she does not. You can’t compare the two.

I am going to guess that she asked Canyon if she could change the front end to Aerocoach and they said no. I am also guessing that it wasn’t the best fit for her and it MIGHT be impacting her ability to both ride and run off the bike.
