Check Out My Awesome Saddle Sores. NOW WITH PICTURES!

Seriously though. When I first got into cycling, I developed a couple of saddle sores that required a trip to the ER for drainage and all that. Disgusting and embarrassing. Since then, the spots where they were have scarred over, but the scar tissue is weak and will occasionally tear open if I ride over 40 miles or so. recently one has gotten pretty bad, a skin tear about the size of a dime. I have tried band aids, steri strips, dermabond and anything I can think of to get them to close up and heal, but they are persistent. Last night, I took some superglue glue and glued them shut. It seems to be holding so far, but if they come open again I think I may have to ask the doctor to stitch them. Any ideas?

Thanks for not posting pics I still do not know why I opened post.

x2. WTF am I thinking sometimes???

The key to healing saddle sores is to moisten them with the tears of the riders whose dreams you have crushed, it always works for me.

Oh wait, first you need to beat someone …

Whoa, super gluing them shut. Dude.

Next, try duct tape.

if you don’t want stitches you’re going to have to stop doing whatever activity is causing said sore, bike riding, whatever.

I raise your dime with the all time worse of 4"x2" hole from bad padding, took close to 6 months for the hole to heal properly (refused stitches, was in Mexico - yes to a blister protection patch) and about 9 months the saddle imprint faded. That was actually kinda hard core. Stopping seated riding and only standing to ride over those six months is what it took.

Like I said, back off said activity that created the sore and always invest in the best padding for your tush.

May I ask how you actually collect them and put them there? Wait dont answer that :0)

Adamo. Or Cobb saddle. Seriously.

Sounds rough. I’ve gone days or even a couple of weeks without cycling, and the spots will heal, but when the volume goes back up, they invariably tear open again. The tears really aren’t painful, and I keep them clean to ward off infection, but if one did get infected it could become a problem obviously. I use a layer of Voltaren and then DZ nuts for chamois cream.

Could it be God’s way of saying no speedos?

LOL, i thought the same exact thing

No. I have tried a bunch of different saddles.

You’re a triathlete, which probably means that anywhere from 30 minutes to 5 hours after you ride, you’re still walking around in your nasty-ass bike shorts growing mushrooms down there in your flesh fun-zone.

My idea would be to stop that, and after your shower sprinkle some baby powder down in your Grundle to keep the area dry.

Grundle

.

I think that only happens when you wear a white kit.

Don’t ask why, but had to pull up the old butt photo to remember how nasty they get - the hole was only 1" wide. And I haven’t re-ripped it so you win. A contest I’m pleased to lose.

Please don’t use superglue. I wonder why your skin is so delicate there. The only thing I can think of is it’s just thinner skin now? All my toes rip under the bends once exposed to water too long - is it possible this is what is happening with your butt?

Have you thought about a dermatologist? Seriously, no superglue … there … way too close to important things (yes aware it’s safe and what it was initially intended for).

Also as mentioned get out of the mushroom grower shorts, baby powder and air dry. In the healing stages I found vasoline, diaper rash ointment and blister protection products to help - in addition to butt naked air drying overnight.

Hope you figure this out as I know you love to ride.

wait until they heal up, then paint abs on them. that should fixthem right up.

BAHAHAHAHAAAAAHA I remember that one now!!! What was it photo of halloween of 2008 ? BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Butt that was all the babyfat he still had. He has **slimed **down since then.

I dont stay in stinky kit any longer than I have to and wear boxers with cut off sweats after runs and rides. The skin is just thinner there I guess, same as whatever you described with your toes. I’m going to get my position re- evaluated soon.

Why didn’t you tell us that you are on the cover of this weeks Houston Press:
