Chatty WC Slots?

Any breakdown on slots for Chatty?

I don’t know the breakdown by age group, but it’s a total of 26 slots. And there’s 26 age groups, so 1 per age group unless no one raced in that age group.

Just from a brief look at the results, looks like 22 age groups had finishers…so maybe 4 extra spots to spread out.

The IM app has a link for this after every race.

The app used to show WC slots but I don’t think it does any more for current races.

IM is very inconsistent at doing this. Augusta has it while Chatt does not.

There’s no reason why IM can’t have this uploaded right after every person enters the water for every race.

26 slots. Every AG had 1 except 4, M35-54 each had 2 per 5 year increments. M50-54 might have rolled to third. Some of the older AG’s had rolldowns too but I didn’t keep exact tabs

I wonder if this is on the race director and why it’s a race by race situation.

I assume these slots were for Kona 2022 in Oct and not St. George 2022 in May?

That’s all they offered.

Bummer that TU, CDA, and LP had 200 slots and now all races will have 26. That’s like a 90% decrease. I wonder if they will add more slots now that Kona 22 is a 2 day event.

i’m confused why all of a sudden everyone started thinking that 200 slots was going to be come a new normal.

granted 26 slots for a race sucks, its realistic for the give situation that we are all facing. IF ironman was to add more slots at races, it would probably be after the Oct 3rd deadline for people to make the SGU/Kona selection so they know how many people they can expect at each race. Also, if any extra slots are added, my theory is it will be women only slots since they have way less allocated slots at races historically.

Yeah I would imagine they can return to the more common slot allocation of 40-60 per event once they get beyond the backlog of 2022.

Hey all, not necessarily a reply to Bryancd, but, in all my years doing IM’s I’ve always wondered if there is a source for each race and how the slots were accepted… as in, how far down did roll occur, if at all, etc etc…… maybe I’m the only one who is curious, or maybe I’m the only one who doesn’t know where to locate such info ? And, it’s not about what i may have missed, because I’ve not earned anything, I’m just curious to see how the slots get snapped up from various age groups, gender, region, etc etc… anyone know of such a database available for public consumption?

That is correct. Entry was for Fall 2022 only in Kona. NO deferral options.

Four age groups added a slot for second place. I believe they were as stated above, M35-54.

F65-69 rolled to third, I do know (first declined, second was a no show, third was sitting in front of me practically crying).

I can, without fail, say that M50-54 did not roll, and the top 2 took their slot. I was second.

I did see M 45-49 take their slots, but once it got to the younger guys I was distracted.

Have to feel bad for the guy in 25-29 who took second and got clipped by .82 seconds!
