Anyone else doing the Chattanooga Waterfront Tri coming up? Hopefully the weather will be better than last year…heat and sun instead of torrential rains. I saw where the limit was suppose to be 1200, but over 1300 are currently registered. Should be a fun time on a fairly tough course with great competition for the AG nationals qualifying.
I am in

Weather last year was awesome are you kidding me? Other than your shoes weighing 15 lbs more than normal it was perfect for fast times since you didn’t have to fight the heat like normal. I LOVE this race, even with the stinky river. I’m really hoping all the rain this year will lead to reasonable flow.

One of my favorite races as well. Team Magic does an awesome job. Great venue and great race. The weather was indeed perfect for racing except for the heavy rains that occurred during the bike…holy smokes it poured! Anyway, looks like we will battle the heat this year. Not sure if the river current will be better or not.
I’m in as well.
I was up there last weekend and took a look at the river. Looked to me like the current was moving pretty good.
I’m going to try to follow this one up with the Music City on the 26th. But Chattanooga is my first Oly, so hopefully I’ll survive. I hear the hills aren’t a lot of fun.
But the partying Sunday night, that will be fun.
I will be there and will be doing Music City also.

I’m in!
I actually only had the rain on the swim, beginning of the bike and then I had INSANE rain on the run!! But I had a great start number last year! Not gonna happen this year unless I apply to start Elite…
Hopin’ for great weather…
My wife and I are in too and look very much forward to this event. But yesterday morning on a trail run I pulled something in my left calf and now I am limping . I hope it is better by the weekend.
A couple weeks back it was the left hamstring and now the calf. I am falling apart.
But we are going either way.
Bringing the hat?
I’m in. 3rd year in a row. On my B-day too!
I’m in.
I agree with someone above regarding last year’s rain. At least it kept the heat down. so far, the forecast doesn’t look too bad for this year with relatively cool overnight lows indicating the humidity may be bearable.
Bringing the hat?
The way my calf feels, I guess the Blackbird stays here and the hat comes with. I might be cheering you all on, and of course my wife.
Hey as long as the hat comes then the race is official.
I can’t say I’m sad to see the blackbird not making it, that’s one less person that will whoop my booty on the bike.
Due to a stress fracture I will be doing a relay this year.
To make it fun I will do the swim, Mike Olheiser on bike and one of his TriStar/Warp9 team mates will hit the run.
Should be fun to watch the roads catch on fire!
In as well. Just in case it rained I got a nice practice run in today. Went out for an afternoon ride with no green on the radar and 15 minutes later it was a torrential downpour with 20+ winds. I fought through it until a lightning bolt lit up my glasses. Hid under a deck for 10 minutes and finished it up in the downpour. Definitely cooled things off.
About the hilly nature…is it really that bad? Map my ride shows a 3-4% for less than a couple of miles. 2% for another mile or two. Is that not accurate?
That is one of the most underrated venues in the USA. The race should be expanded just to give more people the chance to enjoy the surroundings. Have fun! Should be a scorcher!
have really taken it ez this year, physically and mentally. other things going on. but I’m in and really looking forward to it. have heard nothing but good things about team-magic races ( http://www.team-magic.com/ ).
I did the race last year and the hills are not bad. Just a few rollers, nothing long and nothing very steep. I think the steepest hill is the nasty one, but short, towards the end of the run.
I’m in. This is my “A” race for the season, so I want to do well.
You’ll know me by my very pregnant wife. Hopefully we can find a comfortable place for her self-shaded chair some where along the course – not too far from the hotel (we are staying at the Residence Inn if you want to come rob us or something).
I am looking forward to the race and, probably, our last weekend away before our son is born – I’m looking forward to that as well
It really isn’t terribly hilly. The bike has a few longer rollers but nothing steep at all. The run has a couple climbs early and late but mostly it is dead flat.
It is a great race in a fantastic venue and sells out every year at 1200 individuals. Plus they have relays too.
