Chariot Stroller question

My wife got to make the call on the all-around stroller for the impending arrival of junior, so I’ve been relegated to Craigslist to find a jogging stroller. I’m looking at the Chariot Cheetah, and it looks like they moved from a plastic-type spoke (like a tri-spoke, only with five wheels) to a wire spoke.

Anyone have any idea when that happened? What’s the benefit?

Not sure why, maybe lower cost, easier repairability? But I can highly recommend the chariot. the same single stroller can convert from maneuverable city stroller, to great running baby jogger, to top-notch bike trailer, plus more. You get a lot of use out of one item.

We’ve used our Chariot on 2nd kid now, other is 6 yo. Loved the convertibility and saving space. There are times that I would have liked to have a true jogging stroller due to the ease of maneuvering but for the ability to go on trips take the bikes and convert between running and biking with the kids is fantastic. I have the wire wheels and have noticed one is a little out of true now after six years. Chariot is highly recommended.

I don’t know why they changed the wheels, but I have the Cougar 2 and love it. The best thing about it…resale. We bought it used and could actually sell it today for more than I paid for it almost 2 years ago. One of bery few baby related purchases that may actually turn out to be an investment.

We had both the single and the double as the family grew. They are absoluely the best out there. Both of ours had spoked wheels. If I recall, the ones with the spoked wheels were a higher version. Anyway, not an issue or problem with us.

Best wishes and congratulations!

Ditto - we have a single and a double - use them daily. When we lived in Breckenridge skied with ours about once per week. You will love it!

I don’t know when they made the change, but I’d take a traditional wire spoked wheel over a plastic injection moulded wheel any day. It will be stronger, less susceptible to heat damage, and easily repaired by any decent wheelbuilder.

I always assumed that the plastic wheels were spec’ed as a cost saving measure, so this is an improvement.

I have a11/29/04 Owner’s Manual and it shows the Cheetah with 6 spook wheels front and rear.
Don’t know how much longer we will be able to use our Cougar.
