Chamois after the swim

OK, I have been mulling over how to do this. I come into transition to change after the swim. Do you folks alrady have the chamois cream in your shorts ready to go or do you put it in while you are standing there? Or do you not use any (can’t imagine)?
What would be the fastest way to get that goop in my shorts. I was also thinking I wouldn’t be swimming in my shorts I will be riding in.
M~

Tri shorts have the pad sewn in. You get out of the water, jump on your bike and go. no time to lolly gag.

Sorry I meant the shamois cream.

No cream (and never seen it), Maybe for IM distance. You should be able to handle a short ride without problems

I did a lousy job on my question. I did mean for an IM distance as well. I will definitely need it for that.

For IM, do it if it helps your comfort level. If your comfortable, you relax more and will ride better. I few extra seconds in transition can pay off over 6 hours.

For shorter (sprint and oly) distances, just apply a bit of Bodyglide on there pre-race, and swim in yer tri (or bike) shorts. No cream needed.

For the HIM I did, I slapped a handful of Assos on my boys in T1, took mebbe 8-10 seconds tops. Ahhhh - minty fresh!

Never done IM, but, since you are changing into your shorts anyway, you can either have 'em pre-lubed w/ yer cream of choice, or slap it on there while you are changing. 30 secs in T1 isn’t gonna matter to your overall time, but being miserable many hours later sure might.

I for one am from the “apply the cream to me” camp, vs. “apply the cream to the chamois pad” group. It goes where I want it, and only where I want it that way. Do whatever you would do for any long ride.

For an IM, there is no problem adding the chamois cream in the changing tent. Npbody will look at you twice if you take a big glob of goop and ram it down your tri-shorts. You’ll see a lot grosser stuff than that in the changing tents!

For 1/2s you don’t really need it as much, especially if it’s a fresh water swim. For a 1/2 you’ll probably be wearing the same shorts in the swim that you will ride/run in. So just put it in before you enter the swim . . . hey, it’s waterproof, right?

For IMUSA I am definitely planning on having a jar of Assos in my T1 transition bag. Just scoop out a glob and shove your hand down there and do what needs to be done. The 10 seconds it takes will be well worth it.

As someone else mentioned, there are far worse sights in the change tents than someone applying chamois cream.

It’s monday could you be more graphic. I need somthing to keep me going for the week. What kind of wiled stuff are you folks doing in there ?? HAHA
