Yes - a performance unheralded by any previous result, long or middle distance.
Objectively she was doing her normal overbiking but then executed an extraordinary 2:45 run. Her typical half marathon is 1:22. Magic.

LCB’s 2:50 marathon was also the best ever, after a competitive bike, by many minutes. (Last year (identical course) the run was 41.9km so well within ‘tolerance’.)

We’ve got the Alanis Siffert NSFW TT position. I suspect they could just put a camera on her the whole time and charge a subscription for it to pay for the entire broadcast.

Lucy, said hell no there’s not. After failing to find a phone booth to change into her superman costume, Lucy settled for the portaloo as she declared, in effect, Suns Out Buns Out and gave us a taste of old school triathlon fashion for the marathon.
Do I even need to bother talking about the race or the broadcast when I’ve been so blessed?
Let’s hope Lucy sets a new trend for Kona with both the boys and girls.

No idea who you are talking about. Run form is anyway way overrated.
Famous world class coach who’s banned in triathlon by just about every federation there is, but “private” coaching has never not been allowed; thus he keeps on keeping on- and he keeps on generating athletes who do pretty freaking well in the sport.
Lucy doing a full wardrobe swap to add a full minute to her t2 is interesting, but then it didn’t really change the result being a good 7:30 back from Siffert in the end.
You almost wonder if they could make the fabric thin enough if she just strips trisuit off and has that underneath. That has other issues though!
I also assume, if this is her Kona plan, she keeps the top on like a sports bra under her trisuit and can fairly quickly drop out of the trisuit and throw on the briefs before stepping into her shoes for the run. She’d just need to prep the race that’s she’s coming into the tent going commando so no cameras unless they want to go viral.
Surely she could be 30s faster than she was if she didn’t have to stop for a chat and search for a place to change.

Kat was looking a lot like Lionel with the non wetsuit leaving her well back in the swim and with no bike pack to help her it exposed her cycling with less gas in the tank for the run. Will there be a 20 meter draft rule in Kona this year?
Where was the Kat who basically went toe to toe with Knibb on the bike in Texas in 2025? Was that all because she had 12m?

Mark posted she got “sick” at some point and eventually had to stop and throw up. After that she came good. So maybe just a GI issue:
Belinda’s explanation of the possible plan for Alanis this year was very smart given the fact that she was a Sutto athlete herself.
I remember the story during the bike in Chrissie Wellington’s first Kona win. Belinda is off the front with the lead girls and this totally “unknown” girl blasts past everyone and Belinda’s comment to the other girls around her was something like “there goes the new World Champion”.
Both Belinda and Sebi were spot on with their comments about the Sutto squad.
