Seems like the P4 is not living up to the hype. Shocking, I know. And what’s with Sastre not using the including P4 water bottle.

It is a BIKE. You moving Canyon’s new bike onto your “list” since Cadel had such a great ride?

How often does it get explained here that the bottle on the P4 is not UCI legal?

I just find the bike jockeying on this forum to be extremely funny. The get a bike that fits mantra and all the other gibberish on this site is amusing including how awesome the P4 is. Coincidentally on a computer keyboard the other character above a 4 is a dollar sign and that is about all you are really getting with a P4 or P$.

Its amazing that year and and year out you have the same guys just crushing it on all different frames. Amazing how the one bike fit model just doesnt jibe with that.

Bottom line, just seems the only real advice to give people on this forum is buy the bike you think looks the coolest that fits with your budget. Then get that bike fitted to your dimensions.

Since when are aero bottles UCI illegal? http://tour-de-france.velonews.com/photo/94402

Somebody might want to email Dave Z

Not any aero bottle is illegal…just the P4’s. It’s a UCI thing…you (or anyone else for that matter) just wouldn’t understand

I have enjoyed people complaining about the major manufacturers building only UCI-compliant rides and then when the UCI modifies its rule interpretation, the P4 becomes the object of derision because it’s not UCI compliant.

What part of “It’s a UCI thing…you just wouldn’t understand” don’t you understand??

I saw a dude on a P4 on my ride today. He was wearing MTB shorts (or maybe just regular shorts), no helmet, and was standing up to climb a hill. It was still impressive

People don’t want a UCI compliant bike. But they want the bikes that are ridden in UCI events. Or rather, they want the bikes that are ridden really fast on the big stages, which happens to be in UCI legal events.

As for the Giro Donne photo that Gary posted, that’s simply the UCI fairly enforcing an unfair rule. Or is it unfairly enforcing a fair rule. I can never remember what they say is more fair, or errr, unfair…

It seems in both areas of my work rules are king!!!they cause bother

cant we just get rid of all the rules?

ok, I think I got it, thanks everyone for getting me up to speed

  1. the P4 bottle on the P4 is not legal, sometimes, depending on the race
  2. other aero bottles on the P4 are legal http://www.grahamwatson.com/gw/imagedocs.nsf/PhotosTest/09tdfPro-001000

by the way, does Dave Z’s front DA brake look a bit different to anyone? looks like it’s been modified somehow (ala John Cobb’s aero brake modification?)

I think you’ve got it! Makes perfect sense doesn’t it?

Really agree!

Umm…no. You’re still not getting it. Once you think you understand it, you’ll realize that you don’t. In order to truly “get it”, you have to embrace the “UCI-Zen” of the situation…

so, the resume…

The bike with this bottle is not UCI legal???
http://www.tristanthomaskenrickteunissen.nl/blog/wp-content/p4-bike.png

but with this two other option, it is legal…?$%$%^&

so basicly, from my understanding, UCI dosnt allowed back bottle on a black frame? But white bottle are ok… make sence…

I m sure happy to be a triathlete and not a cyclist with rules like this!
