Cervelo seatpost: how to

How the heck do I get my saddle off the Cervelo seatpost clamp. I got the one bolt loose, am I supposed to loosen the one stuck up inside the clamp? If so, that’s a crappy ass design.

So, all you Cervelo marks and none of you know how to remove the saddle?!

just looked at mine, haven’t had to do it. Can you take off the bolt in the rear and then rotate the top cap 90*? That should let you slide the saddle right off.

I couldn’t get enough clearance because that front bolt is too snug and I don’t know how to loosen it. Thanks.

Ah, damn you. Gimme a minute.

I just took off the rear bolt, lifted the top cap and was able to turn the front bold by hand. It’s easier if you slide your saddle all the way forward. If that doesn’t work, grab the Leatherperson ™ and go to town.

Then, come over to my house and put my saddle back on

Thanks, I’ll try it again. That front bolt is giving me a go and winning.

Be careful when you turn that front bolt. I tried to take the saddle off my P2K a coupla nights ago, and the front bolt snapped in two when I tried to loosen it.

I figured it was just one more example of my mechanical ineptitude. But this thread makes me think maybe it’s not just me.

I snapped a bolt on my wife’s cervelo. but I think it is due more to my brute strength, all those years of rock climbing is what I blame it on. Actually when i put a carbon cervelo post on my wifes bike the damn seat took about 4 hours to level. Crappy design, i agree. The QR design is much, much easier to use imo.

Yeah, I got it off and there was only a little blood ; )
.

I think this is funny…

I ordered a Cervelo carbon post but didn’t want to tell my wife about it. I told her I just ordered a replacement head for my existing aluminum post. So today the box from Cervelo comes and I open it and there is bubble wrap just spilling out of it. I reach in, take out the head, and proudly say, “Damn, they really wrapped the hell out of this little part!”. She asked if that was the only thing in that big box. lol. Of course I said yes.

I’m putting the new post on after she goes to bed. She’ll never see the new post and the old post in the same room at the same time.

LOL! Good work.

LOOL, awesome. If i were you I’d just remove the head and leave the seat attached to it. the use the same seatpost attachment so just drop it in.

Good idea, but the only reason I bought the new post was for a replacement head. My Arione isn’t sitting flat in the rear position and a shop that looked at it blamed the post (or something).

If the Mrs found out I spent almost 200 bucks to save a pound I know I would be reminded of the ten pounds I need to lose for free, and there is no need to be reminded of that fact by the person you’re sleeping with…

I loosen the rear bolt then wack the saddle violently to take pressure off the front bolt so I can in turn loosen that. I have to admit that it is one of the design features that I’m not a huge fan of on the Cervelo bikes…

It’s kinda like the old Alien posts, they work great but getting them off or adjusted is a major pain and also tends to require a lot of hand to hand combat with the saddle.

Hey Shawn, on the Mountain bike, post it on mtbr.com and it’ll sell a LOT quicker. I think your original price was still pretty decent. If only I had the money, a hardtail would be a cool addition…
