Hi, i have just recieved my S1 brand new, but when i open the box, under the tube insulation which i unwrap, i saw a paint chip on the downtube between the two cage bolt. It is not really big, but still its a paintchip for a new frame. I have already sucessfully registered for the warranty of the entire bike online.
Contacted Cervelo but yet to get back to me. I am wondering since S1 is already no longer in production, what will they be offering as a replacement to my S1, i wouldn’t like an RS frame as it is not as aggressive compared to S series. Given that the S2 cost way more and most likely out of my budget.
I would just keep it if you even use the bike it will get chips very quickly so is there really any point in wasting time and money trying to sort it out when you get one in a couple of weeks anyway…
Why would they offer you a frame replacement for a paint chip? Sounds like, at most, they would repaint the frame, or possibly just touch it up.
i don’t see them offering up a new frame over it though…
totally understand, i was thinking about your option as well. But the chip though not very deep and about half a cm in length, exposes bits of the frame, plus poor paint from Cervelo, i am just afraid of more problems like bubbles forming around the area and spreading in the future if i dont get it sorted now. I got a friend whose S3 paintwork has bubble underneath them on the top tube.
