Cervelo R2.5 (1)

Anyone riding a Cervelo R2.5? I am looking for a new carbon ride, and this is at the top of the list.

Thanks!

I have one. It is the eighth carbon bike I have owned, and by far the stiffest and most comfortable. A lot of that is due to the fact that it fits very well also.

Very solid bike- not a single complaint. I own a bike shop and sell them, but I had to buy them first- and it’s tough to sell me a bike.

In general, the durability, fit and ride comfort were the keys to my decision. Also, the current model has been significantly refined from the original- first generation. Mine is 2004 “Team” model with the CSC graphics.

Here’s a photo of me on it on the Col de Vence climb in the 23rd Isostar Nice Triathlon in Nice, France a few months ago:

Here’s a review I wrote:

I dunno about that RoadBikeReview.com site. I post over there very occassionally (in fact, I posted on this thread … defending Demerly and the cervelo … not that they need my meager defense). Methinks this is a much better place to post.

Well, I saw this road bike review commentary on the bike. It amounts to fog or urban legend to me. A guy writes, on a public forum. “I have read a couple reviews that say it comes unbonded…”

Well, what reviews? Where? When published? By whom? When did the supposed failures happen? Where? To whom?

I also know this guy who had a friend who’s brother in law went to Las Vegas and got a stripper who came to his room. The next morning he woke up in a bath tub full of ice and his kidney’s were gone! That’s guy’s R2.5 came unbonded too.

Come on guys…

All I can speak for is myself. I own one, have raced on one, have sold a bunch of them. Not one failure. Not one. It’s been a year.

I’ve never spoken to a customer who had one break, never actually heard of one breaking, never seen one break, never sold one that was reported broken.

I also met a stripper in Las Vegas. And she did not take my kidneys.

I have one too, absolutely love it. The unbonding deal is true, but limited to very few frames. If you go to the cervelo yahoo groups website and do a search you’ll see the threads. Here is a link to the Gerards response to the problem.

I have had two separate warrantee issues with cervelo, one with a crack developing on the BB of a soloist and another on the first generation 2.5. Both were handled so smoothly it was silly. They stand behind their products. If you can find one, don’t hesitate to get one - E

I too own one. I love it and could not be happier with it. Suffice it to say that Tom’s review was one of the key reasons I bought mine, so I would highly recommend reading his review.

Tom:

What aerobars are you using in this picture?

Prototype Hed clip lite “S” bends.

Tom,

I met a stripper too and wish all she would have taken was my kidney!

On topic- Don’t have a r2.5 but will once I can walk/ride again.

Yeah, I spent $450, but it was worth it. A once in a life time expereince. Geez, she was a doll, very sweet too. Amazing.

I can’t believe you just admitted to that… So much for meeting your match on Slowtwitch…

Always remember…What happens in Vegas…STAYS in Vegas!!
